So I have hit a roadblock in my build. More of a mental one than anything else. This is my first four stroke rebuild, I got as far as opening up the valve cover and decided to quit for the night. I have a Clymer's manual but does anyone have any good resources with a lot of pictures or video...
So I figured I would throw some prices out there to help get this bike out of my barn.
Engine-$100 (runs great)
Carbs- $45
Gas tank-$175
Oil filter adapter plate NOS-$35
Flat back headers-$45 for the pair
Polished hubs-$45 per hub
33mm forks with a little pitting on the tube (fork boots...
I have done a ton of searching and have come up empty handed. I cannot get the diaphragms out of my 350 carbs. So far I have removed the top cover as well as the spring. I have even removed the wishbone looking clip on the inside of the diaphragm sleeve but they are stuck in place. I need...
I am parting out a 1975 XS 500b that was running before I took it all apart. Engine has not been touched so running state is still intact there.
I purchased the bike as a project but have decided to go a different route. You can buy the complete bike or you can buy parts but all of it is up...
Syracuse, Ny is known as the salt city so that is where I have derived the name from.
Mono thanks for the tips. I think I might try evapo-rust as the body seems 100% intact just heavy surface rust on the inside
I am keeping the front fender....just not all of it.
I have been trying to do some research on here as well as through google so I don't make the noob mistake of asking questions answered 1000 times but I do have some left over.
A lot of people have a ton of different ideas as the best way to...
As Hurricane Sandy approaches I am buying a new bike to start working on. Priorities...
Anyways last night I picked up a '73 cb 350 from a coworker. The bike has paperwork which my XS 500 build (a few pages deep) did not have, therefore I am either scraping the xs build or at least putting it...
Hey everyone,
A few months back I did an introduction thread and decided I better get a thread going in here so that I can track the progress of my build, share it, and ask all of you a ton of questions. I have some mechanical knowledge from years of working on my motocross bikes but this will...
I see I did miss a key in my initial post. It is a '75 not a '72 N00b mistake haha.
I am thinking of running a slightly longer seat with a smaller hump in the back. Still get that classic cafe look with the function of a two up. Should look pretty good 8)
Thanks for all of the info!
I looked through the thread on your build and that thing is sweet. I will be using your build as a reference for sure. This bike is supposedly a '75 XS but I will have to look on the frame tag. Either way I am excited to start work on this.
A few questions I...
The tank and seat on the bike have been swapped out as the tank had internal rust and the seat was tore up (as per original owner) if that is what points you to the TX. If not I would appreciate to know the differences as I sure as hell don't haha
