Well the pilot on the carb is clogged, we have the ultrasonic cleaner going at the moment. The ignition switch is good I believe, lights work with key on. I just took the tank off to set the tappets while the carbs getting cleaned. Fuses look to be good as well.

It is a 26mm oemstd he ordered from ebay when he first got the bike. The bike at one point fired and ran with this carb, albiet poorly.

Okay according to info on similar honda singles (namely this video https://youtu.be/XuSaIsP_Kx0 ) the timing and gap should be right. We're making sure the carb is fully clean right now.

We're working on a friend's 1981 cb125s that won't start, and I'm not sure what to do here.
First off it has the CDI ignition instead of points. I can't find much info on timing these little guys out there, but I set the crank to the F mark on the compression stroke and lined up the marks on...
Okay so I put one shock on, and ratchet strapped it down until it was firmly on the bump stop.
With the wheel the whole way forward I had about 1 1/4" of clearance at the closest point.
With the wheel all the way back I had about 1 5/8"

It's a 1976 cb550k.
So would I measure basically what is exposed of the shafts between the bump stop and shock body? Or do I need to account for some amount of squishing of the bump stop?

I am in the process of finishing my frame, namely the rear hoop, and I need to make sure my rear wheel is not going to make an attempt to get too friendly with my rear end.
What method would one use measure the maximum travel of rear shocks to check the amount of frame/tire clearance?

Connect a ground to one side of the bulb, and on the other side connect both signal leads each with a diode connected to them. The diodes only allow the current to travel into the bulb but not out of the bulb so that it can only ground to the ground wire and not to the other signal.
