Very cool. I'm working on a '79 XS400 cafe right now. I actually ended up with two, and I plan to tear down and rebuild the extra motor maybe next winter, and setting my build up for this coming summer with the better of the two. I'll be watching :)

After a little bit of messing around yesterday, I think I can make it work as-is, and just cut off the excess after the bracing. The battery should be able to fit right in front and then I already have something to bolt the battery box to. If it doesn't work, I can make the modifications later...

Re: The other new girl, and my '78 XS400 "Stella" Alright, so the tear down of Stella's bitch...this was the "upgrade" version of this model. As it turns out, we're going to be using a lot of this bike. The frame is in beautiful condition, and I'll also be going with the mag wheels and disc...

I really like that 3rd one...it seems well balanced :)
