1971 CL450 build. (not fancy, but complete...)

wow. once again, I feel honored. I thought I might've had a hope last time... but who has a chance when your competition cnc's his OWN FRAME(!) yeah, that was kinda unreal. My little project- was just a father, son, a whole bunch of sanding, polishing, fitting and thinking. I'm happy you...

thanks for the compliments! the exhaust is from BCR -Benjie's Cafe Racers. here's a link: http://www.benjiescaferacer.com/home.html ive tried my hand at pipe bending before and realized quickly, that anything over a single cylinder -and getting it to not look like cr@p- was beyond my...

a few more very minor things to clean up- extend the kick stand, look into some rear shocks that actually have some travel to them (this is like riding a 4x6!), mount the neutral switch and clean up the front wiring… but for all intents and purposes… I'm gonna call this one done. she rolls...

if you look at the dates of the recent posts... you can see that the little gremlins were getting the best of me. weekends would go by, and i wouldnt even bother to look at the damn thing. I was THIS -><- close to having things finished, and it was eating me alive. well, I think I'm over the...

    SHOCKING. need help….

here's what i found. stock coils have the charging and trigger wires on opposite sides of the coils. i wanted to use the stock hanging bracket and location and asked sparck for exact replacements. he sent coils to an xt600 -which have both wires leaving from the same side. well, these dont...

    SHOCKING. need help….

well, that certainly helps. my mechanical experience starts in the early 90's... so tho ive had limited experience with points, I'd never had to live with them on an operational basis. so this is certainly a lesson learned. ordered up a second coil (easily the best $14 ive spent if this...

again- appreciate ANY brain power someone is willing to put toward this thing. i'm still waiting for the coil- so went out and tried some basic diagnostic stuff. first was- hooked an analog voltmeter up (neg in the cap/postive to engine) and turned the engine over. needle popped in a positive...

    SHOCKING. need help….

still waiting on the new coil, but have a little more info from today's "poke and prod" session… hooked a voltmeter (negative to spark plug cap/ positive to engine), turned the bike over- and the needle jumped in a positive direction. this means the coils are hooked up correctly. so i can...

CB 360 T ignition issues: Left Point grounded when open or closed.

hey! what did you find out? was it the coil? I'm having basically the same issue with a CB450. when i set timing, the right cylinder is fine. when i test the left, nothing happens and the light pops on with the RIGHT marks. when i disconnect the coil feed wires... everything is fine...

    SHOCKING. need help….

Sparck wired the harness specifically for this switch -which he provided. and its got a good feed and ground wire going into and out of it. after some thought- i think its a bad coil. for starters- Sparck said 12V isnt enough to chock you, so the shock has to be an errant pulse from the...

    SHOCKING. need help….

thanks for the thought, but its a keyed switch, located right under the coils. not a handlebar push button. even when i wrapped some safety wire around the key and grounded it specifically- the back fire and crap running is still there.
