    1975 KZ400 Noob Build

Hi all, i've been checking out this forum for quite some time now and while being a rider (scooters/mopeds) for the past 8 years i decided to upgrade to motorcycles at some point a few years ago. Loved it and decided to pick up a project bike to learn and restore. Yeah, i know people say its not...

    1981 Suzuki GS550T OEM Jetting

Hi all, Im having an issue figuring out what the standard jetting is on 81 GS550T. Clymer manual that i have on hand does not have a list of jets used, and i can't seem to find the list in the OEM manual either (looking at pdf file). The bike appears to be stock and im not changing anything...

    KZ400 rebuilt engine head leak

Uh, thats a total bummer, after all this time i spent rebuilding things. Could one the head pin dowels cause a bad seal? I've got a set of new ones, but i cant remember if i put both new or just one in the engine (one of the old ones was chewed up for some reason). I just checked the manual...

    KZ400 rebuilt engine head leak

The gasket kit that i got (i think, it came with the bike) was this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-1974-1978-KZ400-KZ400-A-D-S-Complete-Engine-Gasket-Kit-Set/302680827981 Should i just get an OEM head gasket ? They're pricey (~100) but i'm not sure if they make any difference.

    KZ400 rebuilt engine head leak

Oh well, ran the engine today for 10 minutes, the head gasket is leaking on the left side, under the exhaust, and in the middle. It only reveals itself under 3+k rpm.

    KZ400 rebuilt engine head leak

Thanks for the info @jpmobius. To clarify a bit on silicone - i didn't use it on any gaskets, just on the big rubber o-rings (head/head cover). Before getting in there again, i might give it a few heat cycles again, then check the bolts.

    KZ400 rebuilt engine head leak

The cylinder base and head gaskets are brand new. Should i still get a new head gasket?

    KZ400 rebuilt engine head leak

I've been working on this 75 KZ400 for quite some time and finally getting close to the finish line. This is my first project and i've pretty much gone through the whole bike. Engine has been rebuilt: 0.5mm rebore, new gaskets, pistons, rings, cam chain, cam chain tensioner, seals, valves, valve...

    Reusing the instrument cluster diodes

Well what i thought were the diodes on the wiring diagram turned out to be just the wire junctions (2 wires into 1). I didnt find any diodes on the harness. Case closed.

75 KZ400 Center Stand Stop Issue

So after fiddling with the new mufflers i think im not going to be using the original muffler mount plate that is supposed to stop the center stand. Has anyone ever made a custom "stopper"? I found this hacky solution...

    Reusing the instrument cluster diodes

I've got a DCC all-in-one speedo gauge with all instrument lights, hooked it up to test all the lights, etc and it's great. Now, im about to chop the old cluster wires, there's a 9p connector, so i opened all the wire tubing and noticed that there's a lot of in-line diodes. Should i keep those...

75 KZ400 Center Stand Stop Issue

Im using stock shock length. Ah, im missing the right exhaust bracket.. My bike came with 2-into-1 mac exhaust, that might explain why there's nothing that stops the stand.

75 KZ400 Center Stand Stop Issue

Hi all, while im putting my bike back together i have noticed that my center stand hits the chain while its folded. By a lot. I cant figure out if i missed some part or there's no proper center stand stop in place. It's also hard to tell if there's a stop by just looking at the parts diagram...
