Who dat in tha dirty? (our roll call)

You aint lyin'! I took my SV650 up over Blood Mt a few times before I sold it. THAT is a fun ride. Little bit of a hike from Gainesville, but not too far. Now for the intro... Name: Brandon Age: 33 (older if you're looking at this from the future) Occupation: Navy Current location...

    Big horn on a bike

Dude, you're over thinking it. As for the wire, I really can't see a horn requiring anything more than 12-14awg wire. You can run freakin 0awg wire if you want. But, it's about as big around as your middle finger. Just use whatever the installation instruction say. I drew up a diagram to...

    Big horn on a bike

Agree. I had a Nautilus on my SV650 and it was unbelievably loud. And quite compact for the amount of sound it puts out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuakT7YK0kU&feature=related

    Total newbie intro

Welcome! I'm new here as well. Also in the Atlanta area. And originally from Birmingham. (where I spend many weekends) So, I plan on showing up at Barber when I get my project rolling. What part of Atlanta are you in?

    Thoughts?

Great. But what keeps you protected inside the silly thing? Put an egg inside a balloon and then throw the balloon against the wall. All this would be is a ready made body bag. I'm sure the emergency response team would appreciate the convenience.

Yeah, I'm kinda focusing my efforts towards something other than the CB now. They're good lookin bike and all. But like you said, they're pricey. The GS looks like a good way to go. Now I just gotta find one. But if I run across something else that I like, I'm not gonna rule it out.

Good info. I was under the assumption that underneath some cosmetic differences, they were all basically the same animal. Thanks for the heads up.

I'd like to get a smaller cc bike. But at 6'6", it might be a tight squeeze.

There are a few around on craigslist for 1000 - 1500. Haven't gone to look at any though. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to get. I'm not dead set on a CB. But I did find an 83 that looks fairly decent for 1500. Think I'm gonna go give it a gander tomorrow if the dude is...

No worries. Not here to impress. Just here to steal your knowledge. :)

Hah. Nah, it's really tough to get me thinking you're an asshole. Even if I did, big deal. Being an asshole, IMO, can be a redeeming quality. As long as you're doing it right. Plus I've got skin a half mile thick. I takes a lot to get under it. And you guys don't know me from Adam and as far...

Rest easy, my friends. I have arrived.

I've got enough mechanical experience to get by. And I'm fortunate enough to have some buddies who really know what they're doing. And, they work for cheap beer and a handshake. Believe me, my first order of business is to get the bike safe and as reliable as possible. I agree that all the...

Man, you ain't lyin'. All I want is something with a good frame and an engine that turns over. Seems like every ad I come across looks something like; 70 something CB750 92k miles, no title, needs carb work, runs great ( I feel like that's a little bit of a paradox...) small fuel leak...
