I agree with what you cats said. I made this thing almost entirely out of stuff I had laying around. I plan on making more changes as money becomes available. I got the carbs tuned close enough to make it civil (I plan on grabbing a factory airbox for this rig asap) and just hit the streets...
I feel spoiled sometimes here in NC. It's pretty miserable when it's 25 degrees or so leaving in the morning to work. But some of you cats have it a lot worse lol.
Got the bike running good finally. I gave up on tuning this thing by looking at the plugs and scratching my head. Welded up a bung in the collector and threw my wideband 02 on it and I had it pretty much sorted out in like 45 minutes lol. I wound up cutting up some miller lite cans and...
Hey I got my bike back together for the most part so I got it fired up to try and start tuning it. It's got uni pods, dynojet stage 3 kit (instructions told me to drill vacuum slides with provided drill bit and replace the main jets), and some kind of aftermarket exhaust. I've been having a...
Worked on the bike for a bit today. Got the right side carbs to stop overfilling and draining out of the overflow tubes, but I haven't gotten them to stop idling so rich. Right two plugs are wet with fuel after it idles for a bit. Anywho, the bike is pretty much aesthetically finished for...
Thanks so much for the info man! It's kinda hard to come by for these bikes.
More progress. Got the tank relined, dynojet stage 3 kit installed, carbs reassembled and installed.
Got my OCD going crazy that I can't get these damn things perfectly level.
Been on a tear the past couple of days to get this rig put together. Got a lot done today.
Got these guys all cleaned up and ready for the new jets and whatever else you have to do with the dyno jet kit.
Old raggedy ass shift shaft seal
New one installed and sprocket area cleaned up as...
Some horrible cell phone documentation of what I got done today. Tires are mounted. Front brakes reinstalled and bled. Built a rear fender mount. Built a tail light mount. Bike is still a stylistic cluster fuck, but the back is getting closer to what I want.
Update! Though I realize the bike looks more taken apart than what you saw last...
I bought 2 new tires. One wrong tire, one right tire. But it's given me an inspiration on how to make this thing cool. Well at least what I think is cool. But at the end of the day as long as the fucker...
I watched Long Way Round and Long Way Down this weekend collectively and it kinda lit a fire under my ass to get this thing going. Yesterday I bought:
Front and rear tires
Shift shaft seal
Carb intake boots
Bowl gaskets and float needle seals
Oil filter
Valvecover gasket
POR-15 tank reliner...
I knew that.
But really though Idk what they are. The page just said they were dual headlights haha. I guess that's not terribly ambiguous, but not particularly helpful either.
I'd ride the shit out of ice's gixxer there. He could cruise beside me in his drop top 5.0 and we could go find...
The headlights that are/were on it are factory. This is what it looked like when Mr. Yamaha whittled the bike out of a solid piece of aluminum with a swiss army knife in 1988:
Pretty much every sportbike they made had dual headlights of that vintage.
I'm kinda at a cross roads as what...
