    Weird '81 CB750 Electrical Issues

I’ve been helping a buddy get his ‘81 CB750K up and running. The bike now runs well, but we are running into some electrical gremlins that have me scratching my head. Below is a list of what currently works vs. what doesn’t work: Headlamp (high beam works, low beam doesn’t) Brake light (low...

    '81 CB750 woes continue

I verified all passages are clear and made sure the floats were set correctly when I had the carbs apart before (I forgot to mention that above). I'm not sure which type of choke the CB uses. There is a pull-style choke up on the handlebars, but I'm not sure of the type of operation. I'll...

    '81 CB750 woes continue

I am working on getting a buddy's bike ready for spring riding. He bought it last fall and could never get it running quite right. I've tried a bunch of things to no avail (original thread: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=55477.msg630457#msg630457) and I'm hoping the experts on...

81 CB750 dies when coming to a stop

Hoosier, thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely take a look at the SoS valve and try throwing in a known good battery. I've played with the idle screw to no avail. It almost seems like the bike doesn't want to run under 2,500-3,000rpm so the battery seems like a good candidate to try...

81 CB750 dies when coming to a stop

I'll try playing around the jets and check the clutch electrical connections. The bike is running the stock airbox and the runners are getting a little old and hard. I'll try the carb cleaner trick to see if there is an airleak. Do you mean the petcock when you talk about the vacuum fuel...

81 CB750 dies when coming to a stop

I'm working on a bike for a buddy of mine and trying to track down a problem. The bike won't run off choke, but while cruising, rides perfectly. However, when he pulls in the clutch to come to a stop, the revs drop and the bike dies. I have gone through the carbs several times so I know...

    KZ650 B2A

Yea, I've placed a couple of orders through Z1 already. I've been super happy with them.

    KZ650 B2A

I was going to get shorter cables, but the EX250 controls came with cables that were almost the perfect length. Worked out great. A shorter clutch cable would probably be a good idea along with a shorter brake line, but that will likely wait until the winter teardown.

    KZ650 B2A

In 1978, my uncle bought this KZ650 B2A, then sold it to my dad in 1999 with around 5,500 miles on it. It was around that time I got my motorcycle license and after putting quite a few miles on my dad’s old CL350, he started letting me ride this KZ. I rode it to high school frequently my...

What is your carb tuning process?

I believe they are the VM22's.

What is your carb tuning process?

Slide By the way, I'm currently going through a bunch of your posts right now on tuning and performance.

What is your carb tuning process?

I've never been great at tuning carbs, but with my newly running '78 KZ650 back on the road, I really want to get this bike dialed in. I know the theory about which jets/needle clips to change, but I'm looking for more process specific tips. - Do you leave the carbs connected to the...

Getting Ready to Dive Into a KZ650 Project

In high school and college, I was always on a bike. Shortly after college, I got into cars and sold my bike, which turned out to be a huge mistake. 7 years later, I'm back on a bike and looking to start the cafe build I've been dreaming about for years. The bike I rode a lot in high school...
