1979 Yamaha xs400 brat cafe build

Put Vm30's on the other day. Running Uni Filters and shorty mufflers. Only gave it a quick start but it kicked over sooo easy and was running really well. Need to give them a sync and seal them in the boots a bit better but i was really happy with how theyve ended up seeing theres not too many...

    Aftermarket carbs for xs400

I'm running foam uni filters, it's pretty unfeasible for me to try and keep the stock airbox. I know there is a tendency for people to over carburate that's why I went the 30's instead of 32's haha. Seen plenty of people run 30's on cb350's with little problem. Should be getting them shipped...

    Aftermarket carbs for xs400

People have gotten 32's to work on xs400's so I'm sure 30's will be fine with pods and free exhaust. Plus VM28's mounting spigot is 5mm less in diameter and won't fit the stock boots (I have brand new ones to use)

    Aftermarket carbs for xs400

Cheers for the input yeah Ive weighed up my options and have got it going with the stock carbs but after ive stripped these screws and one of the housing cracked from trying to drill them out i'd rather start over with VM30's. Plus theyll give me more clearance to hide my lithium battery under...

    Where to get Mikuni Vm30's

Cheers I'll keep that in mind, half the reason why im set on a new set of these is that I have a jetting guide for 400cc that should get me in the ballpark by just changing the main and pilot. Apparently the throttle slide and needle that these ship with from factory are not far off what I'll...

    Where to get Mikuni Vm30's

Yeah I've figured thats the case. Now im just trying to anywhere that actually has them in stock so a repeat of the partzilla saga doesnt occur. Not keen to wait another 2 months to get these

    Where to get Mikuni Vm30's

Im only looking for 2x, they're for my xs400 build. Yeah I've been quoted $149 each from a place in sydney which is a little cheaper than dimecity. I've spammed a bunch of places with emails so i'll see whats the best pick i suppose

    Where to get Mikuni Vm30's

Yeah I've checked amazon, some look like fake copies, and even the genuine ones don't provide shipping to Australia. From what partzilla have told me (which is also likely to be bullsh*t) most vendors get their stock directly from a mikuni USA rep and then ship the product on, So i've emailed a...

    Aftermarket carbs for xs400

Hey guys, I've got a 79 xs400, I've taken it back to frame and started piecing it back together, tidying the wiring etc making a sort of brat cafe kind of thing, heres my build thread: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=60861.0 Anyway, I ordered some Mikuni Vm30's from partzilla a...

    Where to get Mikuni Vm30's

Hey just wondering if anyone knows of a reliable vendor that has Mikuni Vm30's in stock? I tried to go through Partzilla but they took my money, pushed back the order 3 times over 2 months before finally telling me they couldnt get any in. I'm pretty sure dimecity have them but its nuts at $75...

1979 Yamaha xs400 brat cafe build

Heres a vid after the carbs were cleaned and everything put back together idling a bit high but hadnt adjusted anything after this I took them out and went to rejet for the pods and shorty exhausts, in the process I realised that the throttle butterfly screws were stuck and stripped so i...
