Anyone ever try anything of this nature?
I imagine there would need to be new mounts welded for the smaller engine. Just curious how difficult it would be and how long I could expect it to take. If it takes too long, probably wouldn't even consider it, but I figured I'd ask before tearing the...

Yes, the badges are removable. I do still have the regulator, but it looks like the original one that came with the bike. Not sure if it works or not, but it can be yours for a $10 bill (and if it doesn't I'll refund you the money).
So, I had a dream. A dream to build a beautiful CB750 Cafe bike and have an epic build thread on DTT. To go to bike nights and be the shit. To be the baddest mother fucker in Central Ohio. Sadly, after a series of MANY unfortunate events, I find myself at a stand still and unable to move forward...
And reality sets in... I've really just procrastinated a bit too long. I'll have to head over there and see what course of action I can take. I really hate Ohio's BMV, and I'm not looking forward to dealing with the headache their employees impose on me every time I set foot in that building.

I'm in Lancaster too, actually. I took my CB750 to Driven on Coonpath off of 33. They're real cool with a reasonable hourly rate. The turnaround time is a bit slow, but they have some realllllly sick bikes in there.
