    Lifan 150cc big-bore kit: Installation

Crazy...Once again thanks for the article. One problem that took me a while to sort was the crush washer for the exhaust. I've never used these before on my Rootes group engines and didn't realize I could dig out the original from the 125 head and reuse it. Took a while but got it...

Rode for the 1st time in the dark. There are a lot of roos around Canberra and unlit streets ,so was rather disappointed with the factory headlight. I will get a 7inch to replace it . Can anyone confirm if the wiring can cope with a H4 halogen , or would I be better off getting a standard globe...

Another update , and probably a little late in the day !!! I have at long last fitted the 150cc barrel/piston/head , I bought off e-bay about 9 months ago. A lot cheaper than a certain English kit for same . Now done about 150k with it all fitted. Started 1st time and a noticable difference...

    Lifan 150cc big-bore kit: Installation

Would just like to add ,that I found this posting 'how to' very useful ,but a little more basic type of details, for complete newbies, would have been good.

    Lifan 150cc big-bore kit: Installation

Finally got round to fitting the 150cc bits after looking at them for 12 months. Mine are not OO Racing but e-bay purchases at half the cost ( about A$186.00). I did a lot of research before buying. The "big valve head" is just the standard larger valve head for the 150cc motor. I also did not...

Just in case anyone is interested... I have just bought a generic 150cc barrel / piston combo and a 150cc head off e-bay. Not fitted yet, but when I measured the valves fitted to the head they are 30.21 and 25.18 which are the same size as quoted by OOracing for their 'big valve head'. As I...

Progress report.....Now 860km . I had my 1st attempt at 100km/h..just made it, but it was very windy. Only upgrade I can do now as far as the performance/speed goes is the 150cc barrel . I may not have run the bike in correctly, Re current 'hard run in ' methods. I am used to 60's/70's period...

Another thing I nearly forgot....When I fitted the clone Mikuni I pulled it apart to mount and found a small nylon washer with the main needle. I put it under the clip that goes into one of the five groves of the needle to adjust the settings. Does this have any effect on the setting , as I...

Thanks guys...I will fit the 150cc barrel with the standard 125cc head and see how it goes. I assume the base gasket would have to be used so as not to increase the compression ratio too much???? Are the valves in the aftermarket 150cc head ( as supplied by OO racing etc ) only larger because...

Got back from Melbourne just in time for the DGR here in Canberra. Mine was the only Ace , and going up one very steep hill I actually over took a CB175. Although I have to admit it was not running to well..LOL. Will fit a 16 tooth front sprocket to see if I can get some more top speed. Fastest...

TAD...I'm in Melbourne at the moment , and only mounted the taco the day before I left. Have not had time to ride the bike yet to see if it works. Hope I have a better result than yours. I had heard these were a little slow to react. Chris..ACT

I have to agree..Normally I would not buy new. I looked around at various options second hand , and decided that the ace was a very good starting point without the risk of somone elses mistakes. It gave me a great looking base that I could do my own thing and ride without being off the road for...

Actually , when the two rear brakes are compared side by side , there is a lot of difference. the whole set up is changed. Even the relationship between the foot rest and the brake pedal is different. Looks to me, as if the whole thing...pedal and brake...was modified. Got to admit I,m impressed...

The rod on mine was bent from factory , and from what I know your brake set up is the original style. My front actuating arm comes directly off the pedal shaft. Have now done 105k , and I find the brakes are quite good.... all be it that I hav'nt gone over 70km/h yet. All I did was sand down...
