Got ya. For sure if you are tuning ignition as well, dyno is the way to go. My autotune (bazzaz) is not even capable of measuring ignition timing. I have changed exhaust and airbox so many times that returning to the dyno is prohibitively expensive. Will be very interested in seeing what the...

    xs650 Sumotrack

Is there a reason you feel the need to go to the dyno after having the "auto tune" for several hundred miles? Very curious about the efficacy of that feature, and it's ability to avoid the time and expense of a dyno tune. Beautiful bike

    GT380 ground up build

Perhaps I missed the discussion, but have you decided upon material and construction method for the bodywork? As jp said, pretty bike. The rendered muffler placement really fits aesthetically, but seems impossible packaging for a two stroke no? Good stuff in any event.

Beautiful bike. Well done. What autotune/I controller are you using? I have a Bazzaz with autotune. Even though the Bazzaz uses an average for the cells (rpm/throttle position) that it hits, the tuning, in my experience, seems quite dependent on riding conditions. I look forward to your...

Bimota frequently used steel trellis with aluminum swinger plates. The MV augusta Brutale's have this construction as well.

Custom Racer with Aluminium Frame and Sportster Engine

Nice! One of the dissuasions of glassing complex shapes for me is the inevitable difficulties around the bottom curves where gravity pulls the cloth off form. I usually make a proper mess of things. Your idea will help greatly, thanks!

    The Worst Ducati in Dallas

Agreed. Pepo's Duc's are beautiful. The Straight lines tank-to-seat one frequently sees, to my eye, seem more a limitation of fabrication skills than optimum aesthetics. In any event, watching with interest.

Re: Building my own two-stroke "Mongrel" - Inspired by CharlieT & TedT Oh I just think that given how really cool this project is, and your ability with fabrication, you could easily cut the weight of those things by 70% or more. For me, at least, every pound I can get off my bikes...

With your fabrication and tig skills why not at least make the brackets from aluminum?

I would certainly love to hear more about what BillyGoat is doing with his project. His fabrication skills are exceptional, and his ability to solve problems creatively and within the scope of the tools at his disposal really is helpful. Pleas continue!

Nice fabricating, great welds. Regarding the swing arm angle: To lower this to acceptable levels, You would be compelled (as Teazer mentioned) to lower the front end to get acceptable rake. It appears that ground clearance would not be an issue. I don't see alternative solutions of any...

You can learn more secrets from this thread than you would get in four years at the Nigerian branch of the Shaolin temple. Great stuff.

Clever stuff xb, as always. As you mentioned I use a similar idea on the mill to drop the rotary table quickly on center. This idea on the lathe though is much more clever. Thanks!

My favorite build. Thanks for the update. Hey xb, a question for you: Having mentioned the air box next, I wonder if you have any insights on changing the size/shape of an airbox for CV carbs. Any general advice/observations? Say cutting the size down? What to look for in those cases? Great build!

I would say that is steam punk but it's actually cool, more like steam daddy. Love it.
