    Honda CBX550 - brat/urban scrambler project updates

Good work fella, just given a quite coat of paint? Are you going to paint the frame yourself or get her powdercoated?

    Intro

As I've found out recently - powdercoating doesn't come off when you get brake fluid on it either... I MTB too - hopefully off to Iceland this summer guiding! Good luck with the time frame - hopefully you know enough about the bike to be able to stick to it, mine was a few weeks to 'sling back...

    Intro

Powdercoating is the right choice from me too, it's so much more durable than normal paint. Before you mount the seat, don't forget to get bars and a tank (and maybe footpegs) in place to make sure it feels Ok. You'd hate to build it all and find it sits you too far forward/back!

Where in the UK are you ?

Haha, much as it'd be nice to keep the bike in the house (and that Honda looks lovely!), for me the weather here is just too crap! I like to ride my bikes, often commute on them, and they're dirty enough after a single ride you'd have to clean it every night to want to keep it looking good...

    V50 Guzzi clutch problem

Sorted this yesterday - took the whole clutch apart and re-assembled. No obvious defects etc, can't see why doing so fixed it compared to before, but it has. So I'm happy! Thanks for the ideas.

    V50 Guzzi clutch problem

I bought my bike non-running or riding - never the best plan! Mostly got her built, got her running, knocked her in/out of gear and finally thought about taking her for a ride. Next up was checking the clutch, so I could change gear on the move - hang on, that's bloody stiff, and it's not...

Recommended Suppliers / Fabricators / Machinists etc. - UK

Re: Recommended - UK My friend Badger runs 'Hardknocks Speed Shop', near Bicester, Oxfordshire. He can do any fabrication you'd like. He's doing a manifold for Red Victor 3 over the next few months. specialty is exhausts, but can do most things.

Where in the UK are you ?

I've got great memories of the only time I've been there - for a Deva Dubs and Rods show! Good weather, good friends, and a pretty town. I did love burning down the side streets with my beetle, letting off and hearing the backfires bounce from the walls! Anyway, here's what the Guzzi V50 looked...

Beachcomber - time to quit ? Hell no

Re: Beachcomber - time to quit Feeling for you chap, it's a horrible feeling when things start going wrong. I've broken myself a few times and had to recover, so I've got an idea what the body failing might feel like. Lets hope you can keep one project to slowly tinker with though! Have you...

    Honda CBX550 - brat/urban scrambler project updates

Yup,. I've still got some beetle bits from back in my air-cooled days! A few exhausts (inc a proper stinger) and some 5x112 drilled drums! Bike is looking good, it's so nice to see these things put together, even if temporarily, really gives you a feel for how it'll look when done! Have you...

Down under, an idiot and a 400F

Wow, so after about a month of reading this when I feel like it (my forum input has gone to zero since I opened this thread), I've finished the 170 pages! Definitely subscribing. So it's been bugging me for aaaaaaaaages that the tank and seat angle didn't match. IMO it's slightly off in the...

RAM - full time mechanic / fabricator / developmeant guy required

Wish I was good at welding! I've always meant to learn to get good, but never got round to it, and rarely need to do it enough to get the practise.

    Honda CB400F Cafe, first attempt

No wonder your welding is crap - you at least want a basic gas welder! Good to hear you're just tacking and leaving the real welding to someone who has the gear - I'd do the same.

    Honda CB400F Cafe, first attempt

Are you guys talking about the welds where he 'tacked' on a mount for the shock? Or the photo where the shock is mounted, everything sprayed black? I'd agree that the former looks terrible, but I think it was just bad tacking.

    82 Guzzi V50 cafe project

Jubilee clips ;) I don't actually know, my V50 has it's front cylinder built into the brake lever, and I'm going to run my brakes linked, so I'm not even sure what a stock front brake cylinder looks like. I've heard the same thing about fitting the front to the rear when de-linking though. (In...

Where in the UK are you ?

I've only just seen the UK section of DTT... I'm in Oxfordshire too, near Bicester, so halfway between NoRiders and fast wooly! And I'm building a cafe racer Moto Guzzi V50 II atm. I'll get a post up soonish, once I've got her on the road, means I can avoid most of the 'helpful' people being...

    Honda CBX550 - brat/urban scrambler project updates

There're some really negative people on here isn't there lads? Don't worry about negative comments about things you've done for form - beauty is in the eye of the beholder afterall! It's only constructive comments I'll be worrying about - how to get my engine running, does this look like it'll...

    Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk(ish) Bobber Thing

This project is great! The work on this (and what little I can see of Isobel) is phenomenal, you've got a real eye for detail. I have to break it to you though, but 90% of the pics on the Isobel don't work any more. Well done learning to weld - it looks really neat too! Are you going to learn...
