    try checking for corrosion on the side of the battery?

    I haven't looked in a while but I think the bolt in the side of the tensioner may be missing.

    it's a early gen not the later gen Yamaha xs1100 and the timing chain tensioner doesn't seem to be doing it's job. I looked at the rubber stopper which was leaking. the compression was good when I got it I synced the carbs- then I lent the tool to someone- I don't think the carbs are messed up...

    LEAKY Tank - Help Needed

    Mine was leaking at the low level sending unit. It wasn't around the edges but right through the middle where the rubber grommet was supposed to seal the wires. Sent from my SM-J100VPP using Tapatalk

    My bike was introduced to me with broken pilot jets and frozen rusted airshocks I was afraid it was a possible parts bike and then I found out that the clutch slips exactly while pulling the ton and it would do so with no problem now it was worth investing in new tired used carbs fork seals...

    turning out the pilot screw will richen your idle circuit. the pilot jet is plenty big enough for that.
