    Restoration project - CB400F 1975.

Hi all, While I am in a wait for engine rebuild, the show must go on... :) I have painted some things. The instruments were in okay condition, but the instrument faces were faded, as well as some corosion showing. So I started to overhaul them: Paint stripped. The old instruments were...

Yeah, the bended one is for horn i assume, but I cannot figure out what's the other for... There's always something extra when I assemble things. Spokes and rims are ordered from CMSNL. I don't know the exact torque numbers since i have assebled it by feel, and then took them to my...

Thanks for the input, i have mounted it now. Actually, i've achieved a great milestone- rolling chassis. Another question though for all gurus... What are these mounts for? Should have paid more attention during stripdown...

    Restoration project - CB400F 1975.

Here's some more update on the bike, while engine is on hold and waiting for parts... More time at home, more time available to work on the bike :) I have started to build the wheels. I have found some instructions and followed them. Firstly, the front one: Then the last: Added...

    Restoration project - CB400F 1975.

Since I do not have it at my place, it's at my Mech's place, I cannot take a look. He says that there is nothing there, no CC stamped. Never mind, I'll take a look when I get cylinders in my hands. Thank you very much for your input. As per piston size and transmission, we'll handle it as it...

Fair enough. But, it's the 6 speed trans inside, along with the 51mm pistons. So, I'd say it's not as simple as that.

    Restoration project - CB400F 1975.

Okay, I ran into a serious problem. It seems that I might have a cb350f engine in my cb400f. Engine has been disassembled, and I have seen the serial nubmer: CB350FE-107.... Now, as i see it, there can be two options: 1) that's a CB350F engine 2) The crankcase has been replaced sometimes in...

Agree, that sure is one real gem right there. @trek97, thanks. Yes, i see it now, there is not big of a difference between the painted and non painted alu parts. I might do the same ;)

Feel free to leave the pics, they really show what true vapor blasting finish looks like. Thanks for the input. I assumed it was the whole engine painted at the factory- meaning that includes the Head cover, head, jugs and so on... I would be wrong, I guess. :) Is there a photo what is the...

@trek97 thanks a lot. That's exactly what I needed. I know that it sounds stupid but i am looking forward putting all the decals on the bike. These are small things that make whole project little bit more authentic. :)

Thanks for your kind comments. Thanks for the invite @trek97, but I am not a Facebook member and never had been. Weird, I know. :) I might try with my SWMBO's account. I do have a question for all you that have made the restoration of the 400 four before, or anyone who knows: What's the...

    Restoration project - CB400F 1975.

Hi to all, This never ending project is making a little big step forward. Finally. I have made an order of few parts from USA, but due to COVID and all the problems with it, it took almost 2 months to receive the parts for the front forks. For the rear shocks i have chosen to upgrade(if it...

Yeah, I think that work on the 400 will be excellent therapy. ;D Paintwork looks good, but it's still not finished and the shine is not on the level I want. Wet sanding, and additional layers of clear should resolve that issue. And in the end, final polishing. We'll see. :o Regards...

Thank you all for your kind words. 8) Unfortunately, just when i have put the gloss coat on the covers and the tank, i have crashed during one of my trackdays. As a result - broken collar bone, surgeries and therapies in the last year. As if it wasn't enough, had to fix my main bike due to...
