"A Bird in the Hand" take 2. DR650 Deadtail Bobber, now with a sidecar

Got a lot of catching up to do and no better place to start than right here. Mate this looks absolutely terrific, great job. Colour, tank, stance, everything. JustinLonghorn put it perfectly. Fuck Yeah.

    1976 Gold Wing Swamp Thing

Last winter was a learning curve of wood stoves, tree husbandry and general survival - life in the sticks is totally new to me along with most things that go with it. So last night was the first time I've lifted a spanner in anger in a year and half - this winter maybe I'll actually have time...

    1976 Gold Wing Swamp Thing

Hiatus over, big old girl is airborne again - Like me she has lost little-to-no weight over the last year and a half, is a little rustier, but happy in the new digs. Checked the valve clearances yesterday (they were miles off) and just re-read this thread to remind myself what work I've...

    1982 CB750F...Better Devil

High time to wrap this one up. I mean I kinda did that already, but things are definitely final now. Ended up slinging the bike on kijiji in October just to see what gives - with very little expectations of shifting a bike at that time of year I couldn't believe my ears when a month later a...

    Dirtbag Oil-Boiler

That's cool Doc, coachwork is one of my favourite things to watch (maybe one day I'll learn how to do it and have a go myself), looks great

"A Bird in the Hand" take 2. DR650 Deadtail Bobber, now with a sidecar

Hurco this is great stuff man, skills to pay the bills and all that. Are you leaving the bike frame unpainted like that (please say yes please say yes)

    Project CB690 (KTM 690 engine in a CB550f frame)

Pretty sure I'd learn more in an hour hanging out in your garage that in 5 years fumbling around in mine

By the way, where are the oil leaks?

That compression is pretty good to be honest - as long as there isn't a big difference in the psi between the two cylinders (which there isn't) then you should be ok. Don't take my word for it, but I'm not sure a full engine tear down is necessary, at least with those compression numbers.

    Project resurrection

Unless the tank is roached beyond redemption I like the look of the one you got. Did you check compression on the engine before you pulled it? Those 450's are cool man, I really like them. Enjoy the Resurrection

    Brodie's W800

Really, really like the new seat. As it has a more modern, sleek tail I think it makes the rear fender and tail light assembly look pretty big. For what it's worth - which isn't a whole lot of much, granted - I think a shorter fender with a smaller taillight assembly, (maybe something like...

    saving a 1980 KZ750 twin

Yeah, rebuilt that too. It works well, in fact the turning starter clutch may have more to do with the thicker engine oil I'm now using. Still, a world away from where it was before I rebuilt the starter clutch - the springs looked like yours only way longer. I was going to ask you what the...

1977 BMW R100/7 Sarcoplasmic Cow Hellride

Not that it makes a blind bit of difference to anything at all but I like the high pipes too. Bike's looking great Irk, how did you make the pattern on the heat shields?

    saving a 1980 KZ750 twin

Proper nice bike man. I can't remember if you modded the engine or not - I overbored my CB750 to 823 with CB900 overhead cams and pretty sure that combination blew out my starter clutch, or at least contributed to it. I've since rebuilt the thing and while it's better it still huffs and puffs...

1982 Virago 920 engine up build

I'll bear with that no problem. I love a good virago build, and this is most certainly one of those. Top bins.
