Oh hell yes. They're sold in this country as "US PRO TOOLS" toolboxes, and I'm delighted with mine - 5 drawer roller cab, 6 drawer/lift top top cab, and a separate tool cart as well. I've still not got room for most of my tools - having to cut down to just metric - but these cabs are awesome...

yes, but this was done regularly. Your experience may not be the same. Proceed carefully. Every now and then mine went GLOING, which was quite scary.

My old gs850 had an auto cam chain tensioner - only thing that the PO didn't get ticking like a Swiss watch. A gentle tap with a rubber mallet once a month did the trick :)

    Brat Style - Seat Clearance

Out of curiosity, is there scope for dropping the yokes down the forks a little? Lovely looking bike by the way. Do you have a build thread?

Dude... that green thing that's my avatar? Mudguard is plastic, tank and seat are fibreglass.

The letters are supposed to be of a minimum size. 5 digit plates are quite cheap, so I'm going to try and have one on the bike by the MOT test comes around in April. Still not as bad as Austria, but I think the number plate is the most un-aerodynamic thing on my bike.

    modified 72 cb500 needs rejet

right now she's running waaaay lean. The same thing had been done to my bike by the PO's dad and bro - pod filters without a rejet to suit. The asshole brother of the seller of my bike stuffed some foam rubber in the pod filters, which got sucked into the carbs when I was on the way to the...

Lol that plate there is TINY - it's less than 4" tall. The bike itself is a little lower than standard GPZ305 now as well, which was done by a previous owner (after that pic was taken by the builder). With a standard plate on there's about an inch and a half clearance, and some rub evidence...

Imperial spanners and sockets - any interest?

[size=14pt] Large quantity of Imperial spanners and sockets to go - ideally as a single transaction I'm going through all the tools I have - and I've come to realise that while I love having loads of tools I: Don't NEED them really don't have the space for them So I've come to the rather...

Seeing as I've got no garage, and nowhere to do messy work in the flat, I'm about to push the "buy" button on one of these - a 3x3 mtr sided gazebo: I'm not allowed to put up a permanent structure here, and there's stripping, painting and polishing I want to do - it comes with brace bars that...

    Brat Style - Seat Clearance

Not true. But having just trawled far and wide for US brat builds, not far from the truth, sadly. Let's face it - many of these bikes are being ridden 5 miles to a bar or cafe on smooth roads, and that's about all they're fit for. One US builder that did stand out for me is Atlantla...

    Brat Style - Seat Clearance

In many cases it's a triumph of form over function. If the rear suspension is so stiff that the tyre's not to make contact over such a small distance of travel, it's not exactly suspension any more. May as well hardtail and get it over with. The trouble with a bike genre being "fashionable"...

Hope it gets fixed soon - I'm just waiting for bits for my starting/battery box fix to turn up. Should be next couple of days. Hopefully I'll have good weather on the weekend, and I'll get the bike cleaned properly. A thorough bike clean and polish is a 2 day job, for sure :(

Stiffening up wires so they run where you want them

I had a thought when I was planning my tail tidying project. I want the wiring to run tight to some of the frame and battery box contours, with minimal if any use of cable ties. So what I'm going to try is putting some very thin brass rod (.5mm) in the wire bundle for any given run (ends filed...

    Winter Blues From Iowa

Planning my bike resto (not that the Green Pig is a bona fide classic, but one day... one day... yeah... no. Who am I kidding?) Buying parts - Just ordered a load of stuff to do a proper job of the battery mount and tail wiring. It's going to get a LOT tidier under there. Buying MORE...

I'm working on the GPZ305 - the green bike that's my avatar. Lots to do :( The big target for me is April, when the next MOT (annual safety certification) is due. By that time I want her ready for any safety inspection. Hell, I want her to be a bike that I'm going to be proud to have someone...

eBay has been my saviour. I got a stator, reg/rectifier, 2 x cdi, 1 x clutch for about $40 delivered, a lithium ion battery at 75% off rrp (about $30 delivered), a chain guard (about $6 delivered) and so on. Loads more on the way as well, I've got a LOT of making good to do. Last owner's bro...
