Ya I would do a compression check first. Is that pipe cooler than the other? If so it's probably flooding and its unburned fuel. how do your plugs look? Is the smoke pure white or does it have a blueish tint? any performance changes since it started doing this?
The master links on these chains are just a slightly different color and the ends of the little metal rods just get smashed to hold it on. You can spot it because there are little holes through the rods to smack with a punch. They are pretty much 1 time use links

Flipflops while riding definitely fits the theme because that is a danger to others as well as yourself. I see nothing wrong with that post. Flipflops could get caught or slip and cause you to not be able to shift properly or use the rear brake properly, thus endangering others as well.
Agreed 100% I would never ever tell someone to take off their gear just because I ride in a tshirt boots jeans and a half helmet. In fact I know im a hippocrit about it but when my lady rides with me she is not allowed on without full gear head to toe

Float should be useable. just make sure it doesn't leak or else you'll have a sinking float. Been there before it's a real headache if you dont realize what it is.
