83 CB750 DOHC .... starts really hard when cold. Usually I crank it for a while on full choke. Then eventually starts to catch on on half choke with just a tiny bit of gas. Takes like 5 minutes to get it going. Wouldnt mind speeding that up a bit.
Never starts on full choke. Disclaimer: I think...
I have decided to remove the ignition column and the bike has been wired to just a toggle switch.
However, i'd like to wire in a second toggle switch. A hidden "immobilizer" if you will.
Ideally, i'd like it to not even crank over with this switch in the OFF position .... for when i leave my...
So, last year I did a full strip down and clean of my CB750 carbs. I'm getting ready to start buttoning things up here. Does anyone have a checklist of sorts what I should do, or check, or test before I put them on?
I really dont want to be pulling them out over something silly that is often...
Does anyone know if there is a chart showing brake hose lenghts?
I need some brake hoses, but what's available to me in Canada is only a few select higher-end "universal" kits that are quite expensive.
I wanted to look up some stock hoses, but i don't know which bikes have 32"/36" front brake...
Guys, I have this Honda left-hand control I'm putting together and I think it's missing a spring. Was wondering if someone here might know the size of it?
There is a silver pin (right) held by a set screw (middle) in the position at left. There should be a spring between the set screw and the...
Anyone try aftermarket gas caps? Something like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Gas-Tank-Cap-2-Keys-Kit-For-Honda-CM250C-400-CB450-125-650-750SC-GL500-650/392361389922?fits=Model%3ACB750C&hash=item5b5a8faf62:g:tJ0AAOSwKg9dL-UH
The original on this 82 CB750c tank was stuck and i ended up...
How do you measure this correctly?
I'm doing this for rotor adaptors, so obviously the rotors arent on.
I used two Al plates, same thickness as rotors to simulate rotors. And I got 135.5-136mm. However, it's obvious on the used calipers that the inner pistons are a little further out on the R...
Anyone buy footpegs similar to this? (Chinese eBay specials)
I have to admit, they look pretty decent. Curious how far in the threads on them go. Don't want to buy and find out there is only like 3/16" of threads holding them on.
I tried to email the eBay guy, but he just responded with the...
Is there any free tool to create CAD files with? I dont know anything about all the different formats and tools but from what I can see there are multiple file extensions that qualify as a "CAD" file?
I've been playing with free software eMachineShop and got my part drawn up with a little...
Ok, so I have two sets of tubes. Can you tell straightness before disassembling down to bare stanchions?
I plan on taking apart and doing seals on only the set I choose to run.
I did not notice anything wrong with the lower triple when all was apart. I sat it on a flat surface and checked to...
Anyone have tips on installing 4-1 headers for the first time?
Doing it on a 83 cb750 sc (nighthawk) (with mac 4-1 exhaust off a '82 cb750c) and I simply do not have enough room between the header pipe and frame rails to get the collars to slide up .
I'm sure there is a sequence to follow to...
The DOHC 750s have their fair share of challenges to build up. I would say the Nighthawk more so. But, I attempted to make it look half-decent and i think I did, so time to document it in one place.
Truth be told, i wasn't sure if i'd ever get this bike done so i never created a build thread...
Does anyone know what causes this noise?
Something inside the forks causes this, but only on rebound.
I tried to google it but only came up with this thread which never had a real answer for it:
https://www.gixxer.com/threads/my-forks-make-clicking-noises-on-rebound-valves.131881/
I thought it...
I'm having a hard time finding taller bar mounts for 7/8" bars. Even ebay pickings are slim!
I bought these, but these older fork tube adjusters stick out too much on top. Gotta go higher. The clamp is already braced, milled flat and drilled for 15/32" .... so 15/32" or 12mm bolts is what I...
As far as i can tell, i installed the bearings and inner spacer properly. Everything was seated as it should be.
I measured the spacers needed for my GSXR forks as follows:
- bearing to bearing outer surface (at inner ring): 82.5mm
- gsxr fork to fork: 170mm
(170-82.5)/2 = 43.75mm per side...
I'm so disappointed with ebay. I lost a few rotors I needed because I asked for thickness measurements, and they never reply since they know someone else will just buy them blind.
So I had to buy blind.
4.5mm min thickness, and I just measured at 5 diff spots and got anywhere between 4.49mm...
Hi!
I have decided to go with Honda VFR 800 calipers for my build. They have a VERY slim inside section and i need all the clearance i can get. They will be working on 320mm rotors. How do i select a proper master cylinder? Is there a calculator of sorts where i can see the effect of choosing...
hi guys,
Can someone confirm the PCD of a dual disc comstar wheel. I believe it came off of a 1982 CB750C.
I have measured stud-to-stud of 46.15mm. For a 5 bolt pattern this gives a PCD of 78.5mm
However a more realistic 78mm would give me stud-to-stud of 45.85. So i need to know if the PCD...
Hi. Posted this in 1800 help but didnt get much help. Gonna try the wheels forum :)
Hi guys. I'm doing a GSXR swap and using an '82 Comstar 19" wheel.
On this wheel there is a bearing retainer ring on one side (R), and (i assume) the speedometer gear assembly acts as a retainer on the other...
Hi guys. I'm doing a GSXR swap and using an '82 Comstar 19" wheel.
On this wheel there is a bearing retainer ring on one side (R), and (i assume) the speedometer gear assembly acts as a retainer on the other side (L).
Upon closer inspection, i realized that the bearing seating surface on the L...
