    TX500 engine trouble

    Recently I aquired a 1974 TX500 from a friend with 3 of them. I had to do a motor swap right away because the plugs on the original motor (with 9800 miles! ) broke off flush with the head. The new motor came out of the third bike (He is building a cafe out of his) and it has 24,000 miles on it...

    yeah they are orignal so yeah i thought about that as well, but just to clarify more i was having this problem and pulled into a parking lot for about 2 minutes and when i pulled out on to the road it ran fine for about 2 blocks and then started doing it again, but i will defintley try some coil...

    74 yamaha tx500, runs great at idle and when first riding as it warms up the right cylinder seems to cut out and in turn creates a jerking motion while riding, it has points ignition, my buddy thinks it's in need of points and condensors seeing it's orignal but i think it's something else...

    here's my 2cents being 5'9 and festivley plump i find stock peg location and clubmans very comfy, but each rider has personel perefrence, thats the great thing about building a custom of any terminology ie cafe, bobber, chopper, you build for you and then it's always comfortable.

    new guy from milwaukee,wi area

    29 yrs old lived in the milwaukee area my whole life. diesel mechanic for 10 yrs, avid tinkerer on my 74 tx500 which i love. came here to learn more, get help and ideas when needed, and to others when i can, thanks and nice to meet you all.
