Hey sorry, bit on hold at the moment. Had a baby and bought a house at the same time which it turns out takes quite a lot of time.. I’m just in the process of planning a workshop build so hopefully that will happen soon! I can’t remember where I found that video now unfortunately I think it...

100% on the exhaust mock up! do you have to bag the part and pump all the air out? Bit of a follow on with a clamp here: https://www.dotheton.com/index.php?threads/headlight-clamp-idea.77673/

    Headlight clamp idea

Hello all, Boredom makes one think sometimes... I made a projector headlight recently thread here: Projector project and it got me thinking about the mounting set up. I was after something that was really simple and could fit different sized headlight bowls. Anyway, this is what ive come up...

Machine Shop / Fabricator for a frame help!

Thanks for the reply! yes I did think that could be the way to go, I could tack it all together and get someone to finish it off. Think I could just make it from mild steel? The new swing arm as bearing pressed in so maybe don't need the axle to be solid through, maybe a pipe with pressed in top...

Machine Shop / Fabricator for a frame help!

Hello all, Ive come to a point in my project where I need some help with fabricating a lower frame for a swing arm swap on my Yamaha TR1. Ive attached a render of a CAD ive made of what im after (battery box on the bottom) made in stainless I reckon. Its roughly 320mm x 160mm x 180mm. I...

    Ducati yamaha TR1 rear end

Agreed DuckStew, Im using high tensile steel bots on mounts and the new part has a lip that butts up to the swing arm so it can't rotate which I think will alleviate some of the forces. I will make it a bit more hefty as its just a test to check alignment before getting it made in metal...

    Ducati yamaha TR1 rear end

Thought id leave it plastic! Should be alright?.. 6 hours! so not too bad! not much detail so had it on a fast print. Well was thinking of getting milled from a solid block of stainless or ali.

    Ducati yamaha TR1 rear end

Thanks Coxbow and JAGspeed!, definitely wouldn't have gone down this path if it was a shafty! Thats useful info! thanks! as im making the lower frame its given me plenty of wiggle room to get it all lined up. Unfortunately i don't have a 3D scanner! so getting everything lined up is quite the...

    Ducati yamaha TR1 rear end

Some progress. I’ve ordered a new YSS shock. I was thinking about alternative shocks for a while like the R1 and then making an extension for it but thought that I get something that matches the original length just to take one part of the equation out of the mix. I’ve also bought a new TIG...

    RFID GSXR key project

Yeah I was worried about killing my lithium battery. I was think of a voltage cut off or something along those lines with a reset button if the voltage got too low. For the RFID thought a timed button would could have worked instead of the clutch but it was a switch that wasn’t being used...

    RFID GSXR key project

Hello all, Just thought I’d share my random RFID project I made for to replace the key on the GSXR top clamp. It’s a replacement front end for my yamaha XV so didn’t have the GSXR keys I also needed to fit a start button so thought I’d use the spare hole!I also wanted it to match the hydraulic...

    Projector headlight project.

Have you got a huge printer or made from lots of parts? I’m looking into carbon fibre for the seat. Was hoping to do a fancy seat exit exhaust and thought it would be fun to make the shape with CF as I’ve never used it before. I’m thinking of making the headlight bowl at the moment, quite like...

    Projector headlight project.

Ooo I don’t know if that’s a good thing! Those grips are 3d printed! Start button, mudguard mounts, controls, inlets! It’s going to be all plastic soon! Been amazing for this single side swing arm set up I’ve been designing.

    Projector headlight project.

Thanks for the kind words! Makes it worth it! Didn’t have my soldering iron with me so can’t show it with the lights on unfortunately, but think it looks alright. Was wondering if the indicators were going to look a bit small but I think it’s okay. They’re pretty subtle there.

Finally back from the powder coaters! Quite pleased with the textured matt. Stupidly I didn’t allow enough tolerance for the paint so couldn’t fit the speedo. Much thicker than I thought! So had to shave a bit off on the inside to bare metal. Little touch up with hammerite so it won’t rust and...
