Picking up a 77' CB 550, have questions

Im not a pro at this at all but I would check the compression first and make sure that the motor turns over and is not frozen. If its a barn find make sure it has all the parts to make it run, ie. the carbs are on. I have heard of people sale a bike with the carbs "off to be cleaned" and then...

81CB 650 carb and choke problems

I will try and make this quick and clear: Bike sat for about 4 years, has not been running properly for 8+ years. I have taken the carbs off and cleaned them well without dismantling them. I pulled all the jets out, pilot screws and anything that was possible to remove I took it out and cleaned...

No Gas in Float Bowls - CV VB44A carbs

I went straight in and put a cap on the # vacuum valve and got it running. The idle is acting very odd but I hope to work though that this weekend. Thanks for the tip on going straight in.

No Gas in Float Bowls - CV VB44A carbs

Yeah I do not have a prime. On my 81 CB650 C there is a part that is called the automatic petcock which sits on top of my carbs. This part I believe is bad, when I take the vacuum hose off and I suck on it my self there is no gas flow. Based on the handbook if when sucking on the vacuum hose...

No Gas in Float Bowls - CV VB44A carbs

I have an 81 CB650 C. Petcock is flowing properly but I am not getting gas into my float bowls. All hoses are hooked up correctly. This CV style carb (VB44A) has a Vacuum Valve that is mounted to the 3 &4 carbs. I suspect this is the problem but does anyone have any other ideas? The floats are...

Best way to lower 82 cb750 C forks?

I have an 81 CB650C and found out that the air shocks that we both have can not take spacers to lower. I contacted www.progressivesuspension.com that this is not possible. I agree with finding shorter forks to replace. That is what I am going to do with my bike. There is a guy on here that put...

    Rolling sheetmetal at home...

I don't have much experience at all but I needed a sharp edge and I put some heat to it. Worked well and made the bend easy.

Paint what did I do wrong?

I did the same thing, Had my tank on a hanger and it was working great. After one of the last coats when I put it back on I did not twist the hanger and if dropped and put a quarter dent in the tank. Had to sand it down and put me way behind. Take your time and do it right would be my advise.

Paint what did I do wrong?

The type of paint effects it as well. What are you using? If you are using the engine high heat paint it lays down like eggshell. I used this once and sanded it down between each coating and on the last coat I sanded it down to take away that eggshell texture. Doing this took away the shine of...

    Who's in Nashville?

No there are not. If you are driving look up some salvage yards in AL. I know they have a few but Nashville is bad with that.

    81 CB650C electrical question

Wiring question: I have taken my bike apart but left the electrical alone, I am now putting everything back together and I am having electrical problems. Out of my Ignition I have a Br/W that has power, in my head light I am texting to find the power and I can not find any power on my...

    14" - 16" Honda Shocks?

Hurley - that is exactly what I am looking to do. If you see in my picture the low riding position. I dont have the money for new forks right now but at least raising the seat position would make it a little better. Have you had any handling issues that make it seem a unsafe as rockcity was...

    14" - 16" Honda Shocks?

I dont take it as asshole-ness, I mentioned being a rookie because I am on here to learn and not do something stupid as you mention. I dont know much about trail but I do know what it is. I did not mention adjusting the swingarm that was another post. I do not have the ability to do that to...

    14" - 16" Honda Shocks?

Yeah I was afraid of it looking goofy. That is why I was trying to find some really cheap shocks to text the look out. I do need new tires so that is a good possibility to change those out. Looking at it I dont see the chain being an issue, but I am a rookie so I dont know anything.

    14" - 16" Honda Shocks?

How did you mount them? My bike has a U shape on the end of the shock where it connects to the swing arm. On the top is the eyelet connector. How do you mount the eyelet to eyelet shocks like Harley has?
