Anyone got a good cam they want to part with for a 75 cb200? I'm not sure if other years will fit, I've heard these are pretty specific. But if you have an extra laying around let me know.
Also looking for some engine seals for the same bike.
cheers.
I finished my 200 last summer and the seat was one of the places I struggled on this bike. The tank is so defined that I wanted something that kept those lines and wasn't too big like most "universal" type cafe seats. I ended up making my own. It took some time but it was worth it.
It keeps the...
I wasn't able to hear back from the guy at M3 but sent him pictures of how mine was binding just like the original poster.
Mine was just a bit narrow for the chain so I just took a few small taps with a hammer and a piece of metal and spread the side walls open enough to let the chain slide...
I'm talking with the guy from M3 right now. (they sell these too) and he hasn't heard of this before. I bought the cam chain they recommend but still no luck. He asked me to take some pictures and send them to him. I'll do that tonight and let you all know what I find out.
Did you ever figure this out? I am installing one right now and I' having the same problem. I bought the recommended chain with it as well so that can't be the issue.
I would be curious what you did.
From the research I've done there really isn't a lot you need to do if you want to just turn this into a daily cafe. The 350's are pretty solid bikes and super reliable if you keep them tuned right. That's probably why Honda sold 300 000 of them!
Because of the added stress on the frame during...
I have actually decided to turn this into a vintage race bike and do some racing with it. It's got a great motor and I already have a couple of bikes for everyday. So this one is currently in a torn down state. The engine top end is being rebuilt with performance parts and the frame is getting a...
I finally got my tins back from the paint shop! I can't believe it took a month and a half! But I think the results were worth it.
Now all i have to do is fab up the seat pad and do a bit of tuning but she is almost ready to hit the streets.
I will eventually be putting some pinstriping and...
I have the engine apart and my oil pump is aluminum. Perhaps a few slipped out of the factory with cast iron ones before they switched. Or it could have been switched out. This engine looks like it was taken apart at one point.
I'm upgrading the cam chain and tensioner, new rings, gaskets and...
Thanks Tripler but I'm in the USA. I've read through a few of the rules books down here and trying to decide which class I would like to be in.
Slightly modified stock is what I'm looking to do if anyone has any suggestions.
thanks.
Thanks for the replies. I do have a friend with a bridgeport so I might look into doing that. I guess it's not the worst thing to have a spare engine around though. I don't plan on racing super competitive but I would like to see what I can do with a near stock 350.
I'll take a look at both...
I'm looking to build a CB350 into a vintage racer, not looking to fully custom the thing but just do enough to get me on the track and have some fun.
I have two 350 engines to choose from. One off my '68 that's a K0 and running pretty good, the other is a K2 and is a spare that I haven't heard...
Yeah the tires are directional so you mount the front one the opposite of the back. They make me do a double take too. They are Avon Roadriders. I can't wait to get them dirty!
The seat mold is made with just regular pottery plaster (plaster of paris) I did one liquid skim coat and then...
Thanks for the compliment. It's getting there!
I was able to lay up my seat and popped it out of the mold yesterday. I still have some trimming to do on it and mount it at the right height so it's level with the tank but it's almost finished.
I'll give it a coat of bondo and sand it out so...
Hey Rockland, good looking ride! The cb200 tanks are some of the nicest honda tanks around. A lot of guys run the look of the vinyl pad through the seat somehow. That would be a good look with all the yellow you got goin on up top and blend nice with the black wheels. Maybe add a black section...
It's actually not that hard. it just takes some time and searching the internets for tips. The seat will be done in white and black leather hand stitched by a friend of mine. It will be pretty kick ass I think. He is actually finishing up his own CB750. Check out his build here...
