Tap broken off in foot peg mount

I'm about to hunt down and beat the shit out of the POS who sold my friend this CB350. She didn't know what she was looking at, other than it was a running CB350, and got seriously ripped off. We'll it ran just long enough for her to get it home. For the price she paid, I would expect a decent...

Heading to Tokyo: What bike related things should I check out?

I lived on Tokyo in the early 2000s, but I wasn't into bikes back then. Any ideas on what to check out?

Would a 1.85x18 rim look weird front and rear?

I am looking at these rims on Mike's XS for my CB400f: http://www.mikesxs.net/products-56.html#products I was going to go with 2.15s rear and 1.85s front, but I must have missed when the 2.15s were in stock briefly in August. I'm thinking 1.85s should work front and rear, with a 90/90 tier front...

Updating the charging system on a CB400F

I'm re-working the wiring harness on my CB400f project, and I'm wondering what makes a "modern" charging system. I've read about the old charging systems on these bikes frying non-lead acid, and especially Lion batteries. Would a new regulator/rectifier, say from Rick's Motorsport Electrics, be...

Someone talk me out of buying a VF750 Interceptor

I've just decided that I need a bike to ride while I work on my other bikes, and that that bike should be an 80-something VF750 Interceptor. All that red white and blue just makes me feel like a 'Merican. Plus a V4 just seems sexy. Please tell my why this is a bad idea.

CL350 Metal on metal scraping noise

My CL350 started making a raspy metal on metal sounding wirring noise today about an 80 mile ride. The last 20 or so before the noise were at 70 mpg freeway speeds. I down shifted and slowed for a freeway interchange and on my way back up to speed, the sound started happening. There was nowhere...

    CL350 Cuts out Mid RPM

My CL350 Runs great at lower RPMs up to about 6000, and cuts out between there and about 7500, meaning that if I roll on the throttle gradually, I can't rev past 6000, but if I gun it, I can get past the mid range and into the higher RPMs. My points are fresh timed properly. What could this be...

    CB400F Marving Race Exhaust

So you want to know what the Marving Race Exhaust looks like? Unboxing photos here. Unfortunately, my bike is up on a lift right now, so I can't mount it. Chrome looks good, but it looks like maybe they can't do it in one piece, so it's chromed first, welded together, then painted with silver...

    Kicking a CB400f

Is a CB400F hard to kick start? I know it's not going to be hard to kick over, but I know that they're kind of cold blooded, so maybe it takes a bit to keep it going? I've never ridden mine, and the only other I've ridden was already warm, and started right up with the button.

    JIS Fastener Suppliers

First, a shout-out to my favorite Seattle hardware store, Stone Way Hardware in Ballard. I realized about a month ago, when working on my CL350, that they actually have JIS metric fasteners. For those that don't know, JIS is the standard used by Japanese auto and motorcycle manufactures. In...

    CB400F Brake Caliper Bolt

Does anyone have the specs on the brake caliper bolts that hold the two halves of Cb400F and similar calipers together? It's part# 90165-323-000. It's one of the few bolts that doesn't have the dimensions listed in the parts book. Is is really anything special?

    CL350 cam upside down

I finally got my CL350 back together, tried to fire it up, with little success. Getting a bit of firing through the carbs, but not backfire like, and then suddenly realized that my cam is in upside down. The manual says to have the rotor at the LT timing mark, while the L mark on the cam gear...

    CB400F wheel options

I need to do something about the rims and spokes on my CB400F. My options seem to be: 1. Buy from eBay out of Thailand. A set of stock sized rims plus stock zinc plated spokes would be about $250 shipped slow boat. I think it's about a 2 month ship time. 2. Buy from CMSNL. This is about $430...

400f gasket set - what is it for?

The gasket set I got for my 400f has 8 small o-rings, green rubber, about 10mm in size. Any idea where they go? They're not for the tappett caps. Those are around 24mm. Also, the gaskets typically included in oem type sets are self sealing right? No fancy sealer required?

    Valve Spring Compressor

So. There's not a big gap around the valve springs, and I haven't been able to find a valve spring compressor that fits in there. So I went to harbor freight and bought a C-clamp and got a castle nut and made my own valve spring compressor. Good idea right? It's not working out so well...
