Brain fart, need clarity - Coil / CDI problems? : SOLVED

UPDATE: So the salvage yard next to my work (yeah talk about convenience) had a CDI. Bought it and figured it was worth a shot...bingo Plug it in, bike fires up no problem. Guess sometimes the parts are in fact just busted.

Brain fart, need clarity - Coil / CDI problems? : SOLVED

Re: Brain fart, need clarity - Coil / CDI problems? The harness has been chopped to fit the new electrical I am running so its all 100% fused, soldered, and shrink wrapped well. Connections should all be rock solid... key word... SHOULD, I will check this first thing tonight. Any chance...

Brain fart, need clarity - Coil / CDI problems? : SOLVED

Hey guys, Long time, no post. Since my last time on here I have built maybe 50 bikes, all with fully customized wiring. As many times as people say "Yeah the CDI is dead" or "The coils are fried" when I buy parts bikes...I always get spark out of them and get them running without needing to...

2 Stroke...$100 if you figure it out

Pulled the top end today and yes, the piston had a dimple forming in the center, but the rings and cylinder wall were perfect. Should I just buy a new magneto for the thing?

2 Stroke...$100 if you figure it out

Honestly I figured at first it was compression becasue its the original 73 top end, 7000 miles, and it was run pretty hard (50-55mph...pinned) for about 15 miles a day, for a week. Too much for the little 100 haha? Figured it wasn't after I saw no spark, but if it worked for you, worth a shot.

2 Stroke...$100 if you figure it out

    - Has good gas, rode it for 2 weeks almost every other day with no carb issues. - And points are good, clean, smooth, timing is good. Low speed charge coil? Do tell... Another note, the ride before this fiasco, I noticed the bike started to limp a bit at high RPMs. That has now been amplified...

2 Stroke...$100 if you figure it out

So. 73 KE100. Ridden for 5 years with zero issues. Went to go for ride, started on 3 kicks (always 1 kick previous to that),made it about 100ft then it died. Kick and kick with nothing. I figured fouled plug, new plug, still nothing. NOW FOR THE FUN. So the bike has no spark when I pull...

    Valve Issue - Right? Wrong?

http://youtu.be/zzI2EIwZBdE Just rebuilt it. Here is it running. Valves tap cause I set the clearances on the high side. Seeing that the smoke is hardly noticeable I would say I'm alright...what do ya think?

    Valve Issue - Right? Wrong?

78 GS 750 Started bike....smoked. 1) Compression check: 30, 90, 30, 30 (1-4) 2) Pulled engine, leak down test. WITH CAMS IN: Fail,Pass,Fail, Fail (1-4) WITH CAMS OUT: Pass, Pass, Pass, Pass (1-4) 3) That tells me, rings are good, valve clearance too tight. 4) Checked clearances 5)...

    900ss Super Cafe Bike

Decided to go for it and rip apart my 96 900ss this winter and make something cool. Found a bunch of parts locally from a 916 and using my mill cut it up to fit the 900ss engine mount. Frame was cut in the rear and tightened up. suspension swap from a hyper. Custom exhaust. Overall a super fun...

Shaving Heads on a Honda CX500

Ever get this beast running right? What PSI did you get after the new rings in the head? JUST finished new rings, valves (lapped and set), and im only getting 75 PSI...I pretty pissed at the machine right now haha. Let me know!

Compression? How low is too low...

    - Pulled both plugs - Insert compression tester in head (other head open to atmosphere) - Crank engine over w/ starter for about 15 seconds - 70-75 PSI in L head - 75-80 PSI in R head Engine was COLD Checked valve clearances, all good. But maybe the valves themselves are bad? 42,000 miles on...

Compression? How low is too low...

Hey guys. My CX 500 is only putting out 70psi / head right now. The bike feels pretty slow out of starts and has no real top end. Makes plenty of noise but not get up and go. After extensively tuning and cleaning carbs and ruling out other options I figured this was it. (Checked compression...

    My CX 500

Yup I did all the welding. And no paint (other than the stripes) just paint stripper and clear coat over the rust and steel. Looks pretty great IMO.

JETTING? Is my brain thinking correcty?

Alright. So I just moved from living at sea level to living at 7500' above sea level. Whenever I do a bike, I usually open the exhaust, and put pods on the bike. I did this back at sea level and usually bumped 3 main sizes and one pilot size and the bike would run great. Now that I am way up...
