    KZ400 Tire Size Question

The 30+ year old stock tires on my KZ400 are 3.25x18 front and 3.5x18 rear. The closest modern sizes are 90/90-18 front and 100/90-18 rear. The 100/90-18 in a true rear is very hard to find and damn near impossible to find a brand with matching front and rear sizes. Do you guys think I can fit...

    Front End Swap Questions

I'm sure many of you read my sad tale of wrecking my 650 Nighthawk last weekend. When I finally got a chance for a thorough inspection at our weekly bike night I discovered I bent the right fork tube when the bike slid into the ditch and flipped over. I happen to have 2 700S Nighthawks in my...

    Wrecked my Nighthawk yesterday

I learned a painful lesson about cold tires on cold roads today. About 10 minutes into our weekly ride I apparently went into a big looping right curve too hot and wound up lowsiding the Nighthawk into a ditch. I felt the tire slide out on me so I corrected for it and got the bike going...

Parting out a GT750 Water Buffalo

I'm in the process of parting out a 1973 Suzuki GT750 Water Buffalo. We were "this" close to getting it running but 2 snapped exhaust studs led to her downfall when we F'd up drilling them out. I'm afraid it's worth more dead than alive now so I'm parting her out to fund other bike projects. If...

    New Kickstand Installed

I finally got a kickstand back on the KZ400 after chopping the stock one off since it was in the way of the shifter after I installed rearsets. The stock kickstand was a big clunky hunk of steel since it was also the front foot peg mount so I found a modern sport bike kickstand with spring...

Ok, maybe it was just the rectifier

Well after getting my new/used rectifier in the mail it turns out it's not my only problem. This rectifier doesn't have a dead short in it like the old one but I'm still not getting charge at the battery. I checked the yellow wires coming off the stator and I'm not getting any voltage. Looks...

Laid the new bike down briefly today.

So we were out on our usual country ride today and I did something stupid. We were coming to a near stop-left hand turn and I downshifted right before the turn. Well when I let out the clutch I hit just enough gravel to spin the ass end out 180 and laid down. The only damage was a 1/2" road rash...

    GS750 Re-jetting question

My brother has a 79 Suzuki GS750 that had pods when he got it. I'm pretty positive it was never re-jetted properly for the pods. Does anyone happen to know what jets he might need?

    Dead Short! Progress Made!

So the new $300 bike has a dead short somewhere. The main fuse blows instantly when you connect the battery even with the keys out of the ignition. From what I can gather the only thing not "switched" on the bike is the rectifier. I'm gonna disconnect it tonight and try to power the bike up...

    I am the craigslist king : )

Even my wife couldn't bitch about the new $300 bike I brought home today. It's got a short somewhere and keeps blowing the main fuse which is why the guy went from $1500 last week on CL to $300 today and I was the lucky first caller. Check it out...

    New Rearsets Installed

Finally got my new rearsets from France and had a chance to install them last night at bike night. All I had to do to change out from my previous set which were too wimpy was drill the one hole bigger on each side through the bracket and backing plate to accomidate the bigger bolt for the new...

    Honda Nighthawk Quality Questions

So I'm thinking of getting a CB650 or 750 Nighthawk for a daily rider. I'm needing something with a 2 up seat setup so I can take the wife and/or son for a ride and I really like the looks of the Honda Nighthawks. I'd probably keep it mostly stock unless it's one of the years with the ugly ass...

    Finally Earned My Patch

Took the KZ400 out for nice long ride yesterday and truely earned the DTT patch I've been sporting on my leather jacket by finally breaking the 100mph mark. Didn't break the ton by a lot or for very long but the mile stone was reached non the less. ;D

Logans Run 1977 KZ400 Quick Update

Haven't made any major progress lately cosmetically but it is fully functional (minus some turn signal details), insured, plated and I've been riding the piss out of it for the last week. ;D As I said I'm still having some problems with the lighting since I went to all LED turn signals and...

    Tire Size Questions

Ok so I'm looking for some new rubber for my 1977 KZ400. The front wheel is 3.25x18, the rear is 3.5X18 and I'm not sure what size to put on the rear. From what I gather from the size charts a 100/90 tire is listed as 3.25-3.5" but they're only listed as "front" tires. The smallest "rear" tire...

    Sprocket Tooth Count Questions

I need new sprockets and chain for the little Enduro 100 I picked up last weekend. The stock 1974 sprocket is 49 tooth which has since been discontinued and replaced with a 55 tooth which was also discontinued and now they're selling a 45 tooth replacement sprocket. That being said I also have...

    1974 DT100 Enduro Manual

I just picked up a 1974 DT100 Enduro this last weekend for $100 that started on the first kick. It's pretty beat up but hell it's a dirt bike. Beating the hell out of them and getting dirty is what the're for right? ;) Just thought I'd ask if anyone has a manual or knows where to find one for...
