1985 XR100r spark but no spark

A little back ground on this bike then to my query. Picked up cheap 85’ XR100r for my kid. After a lot of fiddling it did run but very poorly. Cams and rockers turned out to be destroyed from lack of oiling. Took the top end apart and fixed that problem and replaced rings now oils properly and...

Thanks for that. OMG those carbs are difficult to get back in the bike. I definently see the appeal of the single carb conversion

aftermarket exhaust for 1979 cb 750

I bought a 1979 cb 750 dohc some months past. It came with a period yoshimura full exhaust system 4 into one. It also had a stock, fairly old and dirty air filter. The thing runs but poorly and loves to hang when driven under load at 4000rpm. There are no air leaks at the rubber boots and idles...

    78' cb 750 sohc

put the lip up and reassembled. Nothing leaks, must be correct! When I looked closer, there is a tiny lip on the outer part of the ledge of the fork bottom where that washer goes. That lip (on the fork bottom) seems to sit under the slight arced edge of the non-lip side of washer- I just read...

Help! 78' cb 750k melted wire

thanks for all the help. Looked into the rec/rel unit and seems like a no brainer. I may rewire that gound, plug it all back together, retest the charging sysytem thoroughly before I buy the single unit. I have a tendancy to buy before I'm sure its needed, which at the end of the project =...

Help! 78' cb 750k melted wire

Before everyone jumps down my throat- I have researched this! I get lost in the technichal jargon of it all so please go easy on me. As you can see in the pics the green wire between my rectifier through the square connection, all the way along the wiring harness to where it splits near the...

    78' cb 750 sohc

A new query concerning my 78' cb 750k. Refer to pics below. Is the order of reassembly for the forks -fork bottom, washer, seal, circlip? That is how the fiche shows it but want to confirm. Also, when I took apart I'm not fully sure what direction the washer faced -because it has 2 distinct...

    78' sohc 750

picked up this last week and upon my prelim check I find some oil/grease build up as seen in 2nd and 3rd pics. Initially thought head gasket gone but compression is 120 psi x 4 cylinders and same staining in the spark plug cavities. Any ideas of its origin...

    83' 440 ltd project/ question

noticed on my carbs that the air/fuel screw seems to be missing a rubber o ring. The fiche show it there, but might it be they were not used? It seems to be that most carbs of the era did have both a metal washer and rubber o ring under the spring. If anyone out there has thoughts on this please...

    83' 440 ltd project/ question

started on the carb 1 today and the main and pilot jets (think thats thier names) are plugged solid. No wonder it wouldn't run. Off to work next week. Will post some pics and progress next week. Good to know those ignition parts may be salvagable. All the ebay stuff looks as bad as mine.

    83' 440 ltd project/ question

hey guys, glad to be back on the site. Spent the last little while with my mid 90's sportbikes but now have a 440 ltd destined to be a rat/ cafe. I have a question about pic 1 that I have cleaned up to look like like pic 2. Essentially is it usable even with all its pitting? The bike turns over...
