So I bought a house and now I've got a garage to work in. Lifehack: If you're going to build a motorcycle, make sure you don't live in an apartment.
I've been getting the electrical sorted out. I'm modifying the original harness which was in pretty good shape save for the bit that melted...
Drilled the rotor and gave it a new coat of paint along with some spacers. Used satin black VHT chassis and roll bar epoxy paint. Went on real nice. My Dime City order arrives tomorrow!
I'm working on an xs360 and mine was much nastier in under the sprocket cover. I went with some ebay clip-ons. I like the much cleaner look over clubmans. My forks are 33mm and i'd bet yours are too but I'd measure to make sure. Good luck on your build.
Bit of a setback. Had to rebuild the front wheel. After I got the tire fitted I noticed that all the spokes were slightly bowed in the same direction. Ended up using a dremel to chamfer all the nipple holes on the back edge. Got that worked out and stripped the left (stator) side covers...
Shamus- Yeah, the problem with these yams is that the rear frame is just too damn wide. Initially I was planning on a standard rear loop but when I did a mock-up seat out of some blue foam the considerable width throws the whole thing out of proportion. I thought the current solution was the...
Thanks NeeksRR. My powdercoater charged me $30 per rim for powder. They're not the stock rims so I don't know about the chrome. I bought a pair of alloy rims from MikesXS and they're amazing. They were nicely polished so my powdercoater had to media blast them a bit to get some tooth to the...
Looking good man! Get that seat mounted up so's we can see it! I'm building my first bike starting with the same yammer as you. Check out my build thread in my sig.
Got the parts back from powdercoat and they look great. Got the front wheel laced up but not trued. I still need to finish polishing up the rear hub before I can lace it up.
The seat is 75% done. I'm still searching locally for some 1/4" foam I can add to the seat to give it a bit more...
I haven't posted in awhile. Not because I haven't been making progress. It's been slow but steady. Got the seat pan assembly finished and out to the upholsterer. Got some alloy rims from mikesXS and did a test lace. Those rims are a thing of beauty, really high quality. Started sorting...
Got the seat pan molded last weekend. Used some bendy ply I had laying around. I'll lay a couple of layers of fiberglass down after I've got the profile cut out to add some strength and moisture protection.
Picked up a pair of those cheap rfy shocks off ebay and just received my loaded gun...
Thanks Dewds!
Good advise on making a list to keep things on track. I've had moments of feeling overwhelmed already and it's just began. I think it definitely helps to think of accomplishing things in smaller chunks.
I anticipate that the wiring harness will be greatest challenge for me...
