i think forward controls on bobbers are the way to go, run an old parking brake cable from a car for the linkage or a long rod. Weld the tabs to the fram and rock out. Just need about 15 bucks in parts and 150-152 hrs lab. or less if your quicker than me.

I wouldnt worry too much about it cracking. Someone had smoothed one of my tanks badges before I got it. I imagine that happened at least 10 years ago because the guy I bought it from said it was painted before he got it. When I removed all the paint and bondo to weld it, i had to dig that stuff...
