I replaced my Comstars with a 1976 CB360 18" rear wheel (same axle size), and a 19" 1982 CB760k front wheel (same axle size and disc mount/brake configuration). I had the wheels sandblasted, and then just used black Rustoleum on them. The tires are Firestone Deluxe Champions, and were purchased...

Thanks for the info...any idea if there is a clear coat on these engines? Will using steel wool will scratch the case?

    1981 CM 400C Tracker Build

Some new progress. I finally brought in some help, and also invested in some long-overdue parts. I'll post as it progresses. For now, here's the stripped frame which will be having a new tail welded on, and some new spoked rims, freshly sandblasted and painted.

Any advice on cleaning an assembled engine? The inside is clean and ready to go, but the outside could use a little TLC. I was considering 00 gauge steel wool, but I don't want to ruin the finish on the transmission covers. I've also heard of people using coke a cola and citrus juice and a...

Hiya, folks, I'm a recent transplant to the area by way of Harrisburg, PA. I'm trying to finish my '81 Cm400 and I need the assistance of a fabrication/welding shop to help me plan and create a new tail. Is there a handy list of local shops that understand cafes and trackers? Here's my build...

    Need a welder/machinist near Harrisburg

That wouldn't be too bad if we could confine the work to a weekend or two. Have you had experience working with the CM's "stamped and loopy" frame?

    Need a welder/machinist near Harrisburg

I need to mod my frame and get a solution in place for my electrical components. I have a good idea of what I'd like and lots of photos for reference, just no welder or welding experience. Will likely entail some machining. Hit me up ASAP...I would like to be on the road this spring. Bike...

Some progress to report... I rebuilt the forks and got them back on. I added gaiters and some athletic tape to the tops to add some visual heft. I also installed a new speedo and headlight brackets courtesy of DCC.

    1981 CM 400C Tracker Build

It says for sealing and protecting exhaust wraps. I am going to rebuild the forks today. I have a Clymer's with instructions, but maybe that isn't the best approach? The tubes and sliders are both in really nice condition and will clean up nicely with just a cotton cloth, so outside of the...
