Not sure about GS' but I use both for my CB350, simply because one will have stuff (diagrams, pics, etc...) not present in the other and vice versa.
They compliment each other nicely lol.
Mounting a cafe' fairing/flyscreen
Will it fit over the headlight ring?
Looks like the stock Thruxton fairing uses a separate set of brackets/ears, mounted (slightly lower) to the forks.
I'm sure you could fix something up from stuff at Home Depot (or a similar place).

Yep, that would be me. I think you're right on the 300SD. It belongs to the guy I got my bike from and it's in ridiculously good condition (the gaudy houndstooth-looking interior looks like it's never been touched).
