Wow, thanks for all the replies good people if the forum. Now I have an interesting question, the old naked goldwing gl1000s, the ones with the hot cams. I heard that they handle suprising well despite their weight because of their low center of graviry due to their flat four engines and under...
Between the xs 650, xs750 triple, cb750 sohc, and the cb550, what would be the best handling of the 4? Outside of these 4 are there better choices for a 70's umj? Many thanks.
While examining my KZ 400 project I have found a defect on the left down tube of the frame. Almost as it was struck by a hot iron and slighty gouged. Is this a problem that would compromise the frames integrity? Is it something that can be over looked or repaired? Thanks
I like what you did to your 440 ;) Before I get it running though I do really want to see if I can use this opportunity to see if I can get a 400 bottom to mate up with a 440 top or at least try to overbore to squeeze a few more ounces of power out of it without having to go overboard.
I am beginning to do a rebuild of an early model kz 400 and that requires a total engine rebuild and was wondering if I could use this opportunity to either slap a kz440 top to the bottom end or over bore the stock 400 head. The easy way could be just putting in a 440 engine but I really...
I am starting to work on my KZ 400 project and I was thinking of putting a front drum brake in place of its factory equipped disk. What would the performance difference be? Should I just use the stock wheel off of the "budget" kz400 model or should I go with a beefier front drum setup, or should...
Ok so about 4 years ago I bought an old KZ 400 for a song, it was my first bike in fact and as a youthful 18 year old I thought that even with my non existent mechanical skill that this "simple" project would be done in less than a month. Well soon after I found a xs400 on craigslist for $100...
I have an interesting dilemma. I have two projects that but for the sake of time (I want to do some riding this summer) I will focus on one and save the other as a long term venture. I have an old 1976 kawasaki kz400 and a yamaha xs400 with two spare engines, a spare 360 engine and parts for the...
That is a beautiful build but I am in the market for a mostly stock one.
I am in the Cleveland area.
That is a good option but I already have a good xs parts bike. Thanks however, I might give it some thought if I sell my current kz400 project so I don't have too many bikes floating...
It has been a long time since I posted here, busy traveling in and out if Japan for the last two years. I am finally trying to get two old projects up and going. The first one I want to get done abd over is the gren kz on the left, but unfortunately it has a seized engine. Instead of going...
I know this isn't what is typically posted here but if you are selling, know of a person who is selling a sidecar full rig or otherwise I am in the market for one. Preferably looking for a dnepr, Chang Jiang, BMW, etc or a sidecar that will fit a kz400. Many thanks.
I will need the screws for the throttle/kill switch assembly, the bolts for the disk brake assembly, I'm not sure if the 77 petcock would work for my 75 and if you have a spare frame or title somewhere. Many thanks.
Looking for some 70's kz parts, currently looking for a titled Kz400 frame (even in pieces as long as it is titled, all is well), 1974-79, Petcock, 1974-76, and various other parts. So please pm away if you have any. Many thanks!!!
