    78 KZ650 cafe/race/boardtracker

Not a whole lot done to this thing, still looking for parts mostly. Tonofun set me up with a extra 650 roller he had behind his shop that had a straight fork legs. Got those on and then made some clip-ons out of extra bars and the extra fork tree I had from the other frame. need to finish up the...

    78 KZ650 cafe/race/boardtracker

That's the idea, even though it won't really be a board tracker, I just want to look like some GI had a '70s Jap bike with mag wheels and disc brakes and threw something together to race on the weekends in his garage in the '40s. Here's another headlight option and the tail light I'm going to...

    78 KZ650 cafe/race/boardtracker

I was at the gas station filling up my KZ550 and a guy walks up and starts talking to me about it. After a little chatting he said he had a kz650 that he wanted to sell, for shits and giggles I asked how much and he said $100. I was excited and imagined some untouched bike in a shed but then...

    KZ650 no clever title

Nice work, love the shaker tip. I have that same header on my 550, I cut the muffler off ant the weld and made a baffle for it. Nice work on the tail too. Did mine out of aluminum too and integrate the tail light into it. Check it out in my build thread

74 CB550 Carb Rebuild, 1st time. Where to Start?

Syncing the carbs makes sures that all 4 carbs are pulling the same amount of vacuum while running. To bench sync all you do is after the carbs are assembled is make sure all the slides are at the same position (one isn't anymore open than the other 3.) again this is a starting point, the only...

    1971 Honda 175cc Cafe Build

Looking good. Nice clean wiring too, I'm sure you're smart enough to stash an extra fuse in there like me, but not as dumb as me to not have a screwdriver (or hell even a dime to pop the aircraft fasteners to take off of my tail to get to it). For a baffle look on ebay for something that will...

74 CB550 Carb Rebuild, 1st time. Where to Start?

Get online and see if you can track down a manual for your bike that has those carbs, comes in handy when you forget what goes where. The idea is to be methodical and organized. When I rebuild carbs I take them off the bike as a whole unit then I work on one at a time. It also helps if you get...

    KZ550 build thread. "Little Bastard"

Nothing really new here, ordered some new dyna coils because one stock coil is getting a little weak so I figured it was time for new ones. Also still working on the handlebar situation, have some clip-ons that will need some modifying to fit and also waiting for a guy to dig out some clubmans...

Re: 1982 Gpz550 - Grid Rocket - Coated in pure sexyness!

Re: 1982 Gpz550 cafe build - Grid Rocket Looking good. I've always wanted a GPZ. I have the snotty little brother the KZ550. I also have that same MAC 4-1 exhaust. I didn't like the look of the giant can either so I cut it off right at the weld and made a small baffle out of exhaust pipe...

Made a new petcock for the tank this weekend, yet another hardware store fitting turned motorcycle part. Took some brass fuel fittings like this, and a little machining and soldering you get this,

    KZ550 build thread. "Little Bastard"

Thanks! Yeah bigger pilots made a huge difference. If you think about while riding around town the carbs are mostly running on that circuit. And for paint there won't be any, I'm going to fill the dents with body lead and keep it bare metal.

    KZ550 build thread. "Little Bastard"

Nothing new really other than a seat. Made a pan and covered it in nice saddle leather. It's temporary for the moment because I'm having another one done by a friend at Rocket Buster Boots here in El Paso http://www.rocketbuster.com/ Check them out! It's going to take a while though. I've...

75 kawasaki kz400d cafe conversion (australia)

Re: 75 kawasaki kz400d cafe conversion (australia) SEAT MOUNTING TIPS?? My tail and seat pan are out of aluminum so I used aircraft fasteners (dzus fasteners) So I can take it off with a coin or the other end of a key if need to get to the battery or the fuses. There's a photo of them on the...

    KZ550 build thread. "Little Bastard"

Good eye on the tank! Yeah, while i was digging through the pile of tanks at the junk yard I found that one and knew it had to be that tank. And the lines fit that frame so well I didn't want to fuck it up by smashing in some knee dents. The trick was getting it sit level but it worked out great.

    KZ550 build thread. "Little Bastard"

Thanks, I'm getting my plate tomorrow so we will see how it dose on the way to Las Cruces. Also made a bar end mirror out of yet another flea market find. I just machined a pug for the bars and then cut the mounting bracket off the mirror and threaded it. Worked out pretty well I think...
