I have found that if you go to pods (Iv'e only used K&N) the only carb mod is raising the needles one notch (lowering the clip) on cv Mikunis to richen up the mix. If a header is also added then I've gone up one jet size and reset the needle to stock...just my$.02...never had dead spots.
