Cam Chain Tensioner Wear Marks--Honda CB500

I had some gasket failure and thus rebuilding my top-end. When I pulled out my cam chain tensioner I noticed some obvious wear marks at the bottom of the tensioner, on the left side/back (if sitting on bike). The only thing I can think of that would cause that is the primary chain. What would...

Ok, i tested the continuity of the stator, that seemed fine pink to white = .4 ohms and pink to yellow =1.8; measured at 200 ohms). And then I tested the rectifier, those results came back as infinity, and then in trying to remove it I broke the red terminal. All terminals seemed pretty gnarly...

My positive terminal leads to the fuse, to the main switch (red) which is a toggle switch, and to the rectifier (red and white). I had tested at the rectifier and it was the same weird results.

Unless the person before me weird the positive and negative with the wrong cables. Couldn't hurt to reverse it. Haven't had a chance to get back in the garage but I'll be there tomorrow.

I tested the resistance of the alternator: Bike off: yellow=.002 ohm White =.001 ohm Bike on (alternator not connected): Yellow = all over the place White = all over the place I guess that was to be expected. So, bad connection somewhere/ short/ bad ground?

I'm trying to resolve some electrical issues on a little cb 125 s2. I noticed there was an issue when I started plugging in instruments, the batter almost immediately died. After unplugging everything and Runnin the bare minimum, I noticed the yellow, and white/yellow wires (that come from the...

How Much do Builders Sell For

And don't get me wrong, building it to build it is the fun part and bringing something back to life is a reward in itself. I'm not critiquing the soul or lifestyle of building. From an economic perspective though, this model is completely F-ed hahaha. Like mentioned before, unless you're some...

How Much do Builders Sell For

What I'm gathering is, if you're going to build to sell for the masses, don't shoot for more than $6k. However, if you're commissioned then charge what is actually appropriate for invested time. It's kind of a shame that no one really wants to spend more than a few thousand on a well done bike...

How Much do Builders Sell For

I enjoy reading interviews that describe a builders procedure or execution. One thing that lacks in these interviews is the overall cost of a build. Yea, you can google various parts add it up and get close, but it doesn't really tell you what, financially, goes into it--or what it would be sold...

    Where to begin

Maritime I'm so glad you said that. When looking at the diagram, the only source of power I could possibly see would be from the starter wire, to the instrument wire that routes to the left main control--if I'm looking at this right. So that totally makes sense. This is all "new technology" to...

    Where to begin

Or is this the correct diagram (which I think it is). From what I've gathered, including what has been said here, is up to 75 there was an on off switch on the right side and in 76 the light came on when the bike came on. My question is, where does the headlight get it's power? I see that the...

    Where to begin

Is this the correct diagram/control This is the diagram I'm going off of, there's a headlight on/off switch. Can anyone confirm that's the correct diagram and control?

    Where to begin

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I just figured out why the headlight wasn't recieving any juice. According to a wiring diagram, the right controls have an on off switch for the headlights. This 76 550 appears to have the same right as an earlier 550 and/or 500 with no headlight switch...
