A bunch of different methods have been mentioned over time: add gravel, BB's or those rocks for fish tanks and shake vigorously. Or you can do one of the many 2 part chemical processes followed by a chemical tank liner.
Don't forget to get some pipe cleaners to clear any vent lines of any...
Not sure who I may or not seen last Sunday, but here's a link to some great pictures of the bikes, the festivities were even better... 2-Stroke Extravaganza
I've been slowly planning my seat build for the R5 as well. It seems modding/fixing the stock seat pan is the best option if you are able to figure out a good method. I guess it would all depend on where it rusted through.
My only concern with the stock pan is I want to attempt to keep the...
I would have gone gloss black tank/seat and yellow lettering, but not reading "triton", but to each their own.
I approve of the suspension choice though. I really like RaceTech's custom shocks and fork mods. soooo comfy. :) (I picked up a custom shock last year from them, and it has taken...
Have you looked at AHRMA?
Here's their list of road racing classes:
Class
500 Premier: 500cc four-stroke OHV and OHC, or 750cc sidevalve machines built before the end of 1968.
500 Grand Prix: 500 Premier bikes with the additional restrictions of 285 lbs. dry, stock stroke and gear boxes...
sigh... I only have MS paint and powerpoint on this machine, but here is one done up as an earthquake epicenter graphic... I figure this is a low detail monochrome idea.
But shouldn't this thread be in the So-Cal folder?
Instead of "Los Angeles" having a SoCal patch would be better, since it is a larger region than just limiting to LA. (I've been in SoCal my whole life and I would never associate myself with the City of LA, even when I lived in LA county.)
Think something similar to the So-Cal Speed Shop...
Ah crap. I just saw the three replies below mine. I just shot the last color and first shot of clear.
The garage is closed and attached to the house. I'll see what it looks like in the morning. Sigh.. (yes, my camera is still at the in-laws... about 60 miles away. So no photos... yet)...
Sweet. I've been lusting after a 15-passenger version myself. You can either load them with benches or have a huge enclosed hauler without all the unnecessary weight and space inefficiency of a Suburban.
I should be good on temperature, but if it is "chilly" I'll partially close the garage.
Highs of 66*-71* daytime and lows ~38* at night... but the garage doesn't get cold until late at night. I'm getting my camera back tomorrow, so I'll get some pics of the current status and my makeshift...
Gotcha, my camera was left at the in-laws house over Christmas, I'll try to get it back today or tomorrow.
It's time to head out to the garage give the bike a gentle wet sanding and drop a few more coats onto it.
Frame painting question:
I've followed all your advice so far...
1. bare frame
2. paint stripped
3. cleaned, tack prepped
4. tack
5. cover
6. wet sanded
7. covered
8. ??
I'm currently using Rustoleum Gloss Black for the frame.
However, should you clear coat a frame or just leave it with the...
Have you thought about putting an FZR400 dual headlight top fairing on it? The euro batgirl fairings always seemed a bit too small.
I used to have an FZR400/600, stupid fun to ride... but when the whole bike is small it only looks awkward while you're riding it. I never solved the under-tail...
