I do strategic HR for a financial tech company. Would love to build motorcycles full time someday, but fully recognize that as a pipe dream. Also, the golden handcuffs keep me here. I worked for bicycle shops off and on for 15 years - took the slow boat to BS and MA degrees - and have been...
Still very much in progress, but the meat and potatoes of the fork swap is done.
1975 XS650 with 2006 GSX-R 750 fork + triples. Going to be using the GSX-R calipers + master cylinder, but I ordered a Cognito Moto top triple with risers so I can use my tracker bars. My back would hate me if I...
So, I ended up selling this one in the interest of a larger bike. I did the following since the most recent update:
Re-jetted to 98
Updated entire electrical system
Rebuilt fork + new seals
All-in-one rear taillight w/integrated signals
New chain
Replaced points - it was burning through them...
I had the same bike and built it similarly - just sold it a few months ago.
The baffle solution I found, which turned out super clean, was to get aircooled VW exhaust tips and knock the baffles out of them. They're the same ID and OD as the CL exhaust, so you can just tap them into the cut off...
Awesome! We are doing similar things with nearly identical bikes! My build is listed here, but I accidentally miscategorized it in the Bob/Chop section since the Japanese version of a bobber is a brat bike. Not too many photos yet...
I've actually gotten quite a bit done in the last couple of months, but I have taken very few photos. This is the most recent stuff:
Installed solid state regulator/rectifier purchased from Charlie's Place SF. Very nice piece, and very helpful folks.
Fabricated new low profile battery tray to...
Much has happened since I first started messing around with this thing, and unfortunately I haven't done much to record the progress visually, so here's a quick (terrible) iphone snapshot from this morning. As previously noted, this thing now lives in front of my flat. It's chained to a parking...
Hello, Folks -
After a long hiatus, I am back in the Honda Twin game. By long, I mean I haven't had one since about 1998. I restored a CL-350 in high school from a frame and 6 or 7 five-gallon buckets of parts, but I stupidly sold it to pay for college. 14+ years later, a good friend of mine...
