Glad to see that you are still working on this. This thread helped inspire me to build up my '74 G4.

Reviving this old thread... How did the bike turn out? Do you have any pics of the final product? Just read through this and thought it was cool. I was expecting to see someone struggling through some basic updates to the bike and you blew me away with how in-depth you got with the dissassembly.

I stand corrected- nice work. The question now is: where did the original plugs go?

I don't see any plugs in the parts fiche for the 450 carbs: http://www.hondapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/hon/5053f719f870021c54be827d/carburetor

Based on web searches it looks to me like a jet definitely goes there, and if this is the case, it would run way to rich if the jet was missing. Is it missing out of both carbs? Can you take a pic of the jets that are in the carb?

Have you tried re-jetting it yet?

How did the old plugs look before you changed them out?

Not sure. Sounds like an air/fuel issue to me. Perhaps one of the more experienced members familiar with this specific bike can chime in.

Careful spraying carb cleaner through the carb. It is powerful and will destroy anything rubber in the carb like o-rings, etc... Were there any holes in the diaphragms?

Are you running stock airbox and stock jets?

I'm going to take a shot at the whole process by myself first. However, I will definitly keep this information in mind just in case I get stuck. That's awesome that you have a 'kit'. How many other bikes do you do pipes for?
