What you need to do is contact a signatory engineer. They are the ones authorized by you local traffic authorities to sign off on these type of conversions.
Here in Victoria, VicRoads has a list of them. Give one a ring and discuss what you want to do and then you'll know where you stand. I've...
Thought I'd post an update.
Done about 5K trouble free miles. Still starts first kick and runs like a scalded cat.
Added new shocks, shorter rear fender and changed its profile.
Currently building a new light weight wheel set and super sticky rubber
Cheers
Do it, just buy a complete, running XR600. PM me if you need any help.
Here's a couple of pics of it lately.
Lowered 2" all round and a different tail light. Also made a gearing change. Modifed the inlet manifold and painted it black
And painted exhaust.
Still ride it to work every day. So much fun
Here's a pic of her new arse.
Seat's way more comfortable. Rear fender is temp, waiting for a new 4" alloy one to arrive, which I'll use on the front and rear.

Idles perfect, and has such a nicer throttle action. Really smooth and progressive...
I agree,
My plan is to intergrate a muffler system into the underside of the frame out of sight. Just a bit slack.
Also just bought a keihin fcr flatside carb, which will be fitted to a new inlet manifold, right up close to the engine.
Cheers for the ups
Hi there,
I've been building this bike over the last couple of years.
I ride it to work every day, and am refining it as I go.
The old CB360 engine gave up the ghost, fixing it wasn't viable and I wanted more power and better reliablity.
I measured up an XR600 engine a figured I would be...
