    Starting Issue - CB750 (help!)

Ok, I decided to go through and test the entire wiring of the bike because I wanted to actually understand everything that was going on. So I began by tracing the power from the battery all the way to the coils. Long story short, I got to testing the kill switch (which I removed when I first got...

    Starting Issue - CB750 (help!)

OK here are the measurements I got. I'm still learning this whole electronics thing so I may have measure some things incorrectly... I was getting .6 ohms just touching the black and red leads together so do the measurements have to be adjusted by that amount? 5.3 ohms between yellow/blue...

    Starting Issue - CB750 (help!)

Ok, I checked to see if the plugs were sparking and it appears they aren't. I held one against a grounded piece of metal and gave it a few kicks and couldn't see anything. So I looked in the shop manual and the first thing the troubleshooting section says is that the ignition coils could be bad...

    Starting Issue - CB750 (help!)

Ok, I pulled off the cover, rotated the motor and the points are both opening and closing. So that's a relief. I have been checking through all of the electricals and still can't find anything that is abnormal. I am stumped! :( Everytime I try and kick over the motor it still smells a lot...

    Starting Issue - CB750 (help!)

Reinard, thanks for the reply. Good to know. So even though the battery is still working (speedo still lights up, and the electric starter still turns the engine over), the points could be welded shut? Maybe I just don't know what you you mean by the points being welded shut, however, it sounds...

    Starting Issue - CB750 (help!)

Yeah, all of the fuses are still in good shape. I did have everything still connected, but the bike was off. Could this have screwed something up?

    Starting Issue - CB750 (help!)

Hey everyone, I'm hoping that someone here can help me out in getting my 1976 CB750f back up and running. I am stumped. I will preface this post with the fact that I am still new to working on bikes, so feel free to tell me I'm doing something totally stupid if I am! About 3 or 4 days ago I had...

The XS, and the Sidecar of Death

Re: The Dnepr and the Sidecar of Death My word, that thing is awesome! What year? Love the sidecar! Does it really only have 2,700 miles, or did I read that wrong?

    1976 CB750F Air box 'gasket'

Sort of... I PM'd superchomper2003 because he said he had 76 cb750f parts and found out he had an airbox in good shape that he was willing to sell, but I'm still waiting to hear back from him. Good idea, BCBarker. I also have seen this stuff...

Re: 1973 cb750 project Awesome, man. I just started a CB750 build myself. Good to see another photographer on here building a bike! Although my main job is accounting, I have a side photography business. Good luck and I'll be following.

1976 CB750F Brat Style (First project!)

So, here we go, my first motorcycle build! Bought a pretty nice 1976 CB750F with 17K a week or two ago and my desire is to cafe race/brat style it (I guess more brat style because I'd still like to ride two-up). Here is what it looked like the day after I bought it and took off the windjammer...

    1976 CB750F Air box 'gasket'

Sounds good. Thanks, bjonesin! I posted it over at cb1100f.net too. I considered just getting pods, but everything I've heard from people on hear is that they are terrible for performance.

    1976 CB750F Air box 'gasket'

Hello! First post, but I have been following these forums for a month or so now. I recently bought a 1976 CB750F with 17,000 miles and a beautiful (sarcasm) windjammer faring on it. It ran decently, quite rich and powerless, but it still ran. I am in the process of pulling it apart, cleaning...
