I am selling two sets of NEW UNOPENED Standard Sized Piston Rings for a '68 to '74 CB450 for $35 plus shipping.
I'm also getting rid of two used standard sized pistons for FREE. Just pay the shipping.
The sides have small scratches from normal wear.
The tops look like someone took a...
Dd you have hell getting the timing right? My brother and I fought mine for an hour and still ended up a link off. Had it all lined up, then turned the crank and we were a link off, maybe two. Must of had slack in one side.
Wonder if you have any tips for getting it set right. The manual doesn't...
Green199, I dig those gold pinstripes. (Gold right? Hard to see in the picture for sure)
Clean and simple. I'm considering doing gold and black stripes on an antiqued off white tank
and fenders.
Re: WTB 0.50mm Oversize CB450 Rings
Thank you, but I have the pistons on the way. Just need rings.
I actually meant that I need 1.00mm oversized rings.
I need a pair of 0.50mm oversized piston rings for a '73 CB450.
I have a pair of unused, unopened standard sized rings to trade or sell also.
I bought them before I figured out I needed to re-bore.
Thank you.
Just out of curiosity, what has to be done to use Henning's racing pistons?

Not planning on it because it's way out of my...
I'll take you up on those pistons sir. If you PM me i'll send some $$$ your way.
I really appreciate it.
By the way, I guess i lied when I said my pistons where good. After I got the carbon
cleaned off I found something new.
It appears the last feller that got into this enginewas even more...
Thank you for the help guys.
I'm going to take it to a machinist to see if he can hone out enough to get the
pitting out while still keeping it within the serviceable limit. The manual states that
standard value is 70.0 - 70.01mm and the serviceable limit is 70.11mm.
We shall see.
nah, you didn't miss it, I just didn't mention it.
So why swap out the liner instead of just boring?
My pistons are good though. Their skirts didn't have any bad scratches or scoring on them.
Thanks xb33bsa. I'm probably will go ahead and take it to a shop and get it done.
Hopefully they can get out the bad spots without going oversized. I bought new
standard rings and don't want to have to buy another set. :P
Thanks PJ, but this one is off a '73 CB450.
What is a reasonable rate to have it bored and honed?
I guessing it just depends where you're located and what
the machinists are like in the area.
Even after honing I wasn't able to totally get rid of the pitting.
I can barely feel it with my fingernail.
Will I be able to hone this out if I keep going?
Would it wear out the rings quickly if I didn't?
I'm glad I found this thread. I was going to ask what I needed to do for my cylinder walls.
They look similar to your's Duggyb with the rust from sitting... but probably a little worse.
This is my first attempt at polishing forks. I wasn't going for the mirror finish so I'm pleased with the result.
If I did it again, I would sand with higher grit before using the wheels.
