check compression, ajust valves, clean or new air filter, buy a box of plugs, run new plugs 10-15 miles, check color of plugs, ajust pilot screws, put new plugs in repeat till plugs are nice tan(rich is better than lean) take to shop to get sync
set timing and valves first, do compression test to make sure cylinders are all real close.....buy a box of plugs so you can change them each time you change jets....not every cylinder may have same size jet....I'm running 2 different sizes on my cb650 4 into 2 almost straight exhaust and V...
yep that's about the way you do it.....but I do it without using the choke.....once it's warm it's fine all day...leave it sit more than 5-6 hrs and you have to go through the cold start again.....damn I love that cb650 lol
still have full choke function....use it to start...let it warm up 5 min. and go gently for a few miles then it's fine.....not made for quick getaways....cb650 idio.
still have the hard wire end at the carb but it's either full on or full off....but I never use it anyway....did away with the dash and am mounting small speedo and tach...re-painting tanks (small cb360 and large stock), side covers, and seat as we speak
yep I have a 79 also.....ditto to worse650ever reply....hint...on cold mornings I use a small space heater to pre-heat the motor for 10-15 min. as I have no choke.
are those Emgo pods? the rubber mount boot on them partly blocks the small air holes on the carb! I don't think that would cause that kind of smoke but then again it's 5am no coffee yet let me ponder a little longer. Mainerider or Volker on CB650 fourm might have your answer
