I LOVE THIS! I hate those big fat bikes and the only thing people ever seem to do with them is bolt more bullshit onto them. This looks awesome.
How the hell were you able to get the tank dents smooth enough just using a hammer?
Didn't like the look of the little 1.5" exhaust pipes. They looked way too little next to the big fat 750 motor. I cut the pipes at the 4-2 collectors and welded on two 1.75 pipes. Sounds fucking mean as hell.
I have lots of scrap laying around my garage, so I threw together a spring compressor based on the one Joe (can't remember his screen name) posted a picture of in the $50 mod thread. The ugly rear shock covers are finally off.
I've decided I'm going to drop the back by stretching the swingarm, but I'm not sure what method I should use do drop the front. Anyone have any suggestions? I really want this thing slammed but still level.
Thanks man. I made the seat pan from 16ga and welded some extra support where the seat bends. Then I had it professionally upholstered, since I'm going to spend a lot of time sitting on it.
The tank is just about ready for paint. A little more sanding to go. It's the standard hondamatic tank...
Since I have nerve damage in my left leg and can't move my ankle, I need a motorcycle with the shift lever on the right side or with an automatic transmission. Since old brit bikes are a bit pricey, I went with the automatic option.
Here's the bike. First thing to go was the bright purple paint...
I've been looking for a tank that will fit my CB750 DOHC frame, and I'm not too thrilled with what I've found so far. I don't like the weird downward curved honda tank and I'm not crazy about the hondamatic tank either. I've used the search extensively but haven't been able to find a thread...
I want to put a stretched swingarm on my CB750A, and the stock swingarm on the A is made of two stamped pieces welded together. That means it has a funky shape rather than just a tube, making it really difficult to stretch with traditional round slugs and tubing.
Anyway, is there a more...
Looks good. Now you just sand and sand and sand and sand.
...and sand and sand some more :P. It'll be worth it though. Are you going to fiberglass over that or use it as a plug to make a mold?
Thanks interceptor.
I think you're right about the bike running lean. I'm going to try some new air manifolds and switch from velocity stacks to filter pods. I'm suspecting the manifolds, because before I bought the bike from a friend, he ran the bike as it is now and didn't have any problems.
