BACK FROM THE DEAD! Its been a long time... Many other projects have pushed my CB to the bottom of the list for the past 4 years. Now with a lot of extra time on my hands, I was able to finish up some modifications and get her running again. About a year ago the bike was pulled out of...

I think I am going to make a new fork brace I have a nice piece of 1/4" aluminum laying around that would be perfect. Plus it will give me an excuse to use the Bridgeport and exercise a part of my brain that doesn't get much use. Hopefully being 30 mph slower will keep me out of trouble! ;D

So after about 4 years she is finally back on the road!! Over the past three months I have slowly been finishing up the remaining odds and ends to get the bike ready to ride. This past weekend I took the bike around the block and everything seemed good to go, I will take it out for a full...

I don't remember exactly where I got it from (it was over a year ago), but ebay and amazon are currently around $160 for the kit.

I bought one of the RK chain and sprocket kits. It comes with an Xring chain and front and rear sprockets for about $150. I don't have any miles on it yet, but seems like good quality. Also I have RKs on all my other bikes and have never had any issues. The kit comes 14 /46, and I believe...

For your reference. I figured I have spent a little under 3k on my Katana project so far, that includes the price of the bike ($400) and an extra engine with low mileage for when the trans blows in the current motor ($200). Big items still to buy are new tires in the spring and a digital...

I have been working on finishing up the front brakes and getting the hand controls back together. I decided to build some custom front brake lines using Galfer K7 universal lines. They are on order and should be in soon. I went with a double banjo at the master and one line for each caliper...

You should be able to get them from McMaster-Carr. I have been ordering stuff from them for years shipped right to my house. Just make up a business name for your address!

Put on the tank and seat just to see what it would look like. I am definitely going to try to extend and smooth out the sides of the tank to get it to flow better with the frame.

Wiring is mostly done. Started the bike up last week and it ran like crap! Had a leaking seal in one carb causing it to flood, and some vacuum leaks. Got that all set and bike revs nice and returns right back to idle with no issues. I still have to clean out the tank and finish up the hand...

Thanks for the info on the top yoke I wish I would have known that a few months ago! Luckily what I did didn't cost me anything. I swapped the coils around, I must have been half asleep when I installed them they were very close to the frame.

For some reason when I put my carbs back together it did not want to run with the air screws in the stock position. I set then to 2.5 turns out as suggested by many on katriders and it ran well. I am getting to the point where I will be starting up my Kat soon. I hope it picks up where I left...

Yes that is it. I didn't realize you are in California, if your bike originated there it has way more vacuum controlled emissions junk then my bike. That may be what that T connects to.

The back of the petcock connects to a vac port on the far right carb. You are correct in that it controls the fuel flow when the petcock is in the "ON" position. If that port on the carb is not plugged up, that could be you high idle right there!

Got it rolling again over the weekend. Next big thing is to get the motor in the frame and bring it back to my garage for the winter to finish all the little stuff.

This weekend the bike starts going back together! I have to press in the races for the stem, and change the rear wheel bearings. After that the cassis can get bolted back together. Finished rebuilding the forks and filled them with oil last night, and put the final coat on the rear wheel...

I was able to use a set of the generic café racer headlight brackets from DCC on a kat I did for a buddy. They will work you just have to bend and reshape the brackets a little bit. On my bike I am using a bottom mount light and made a bracket off of the same spot you mentioned, where the...
