Does anyone know if it is possible to use a xs650 hardtail for a xs400? I know the frames are different, but i want to know if they are too far apart from each other that its not worth trying? Thanks, Mike

We found out that a couple of teeth broke on on one of the gears. i guess that is what caused the back wheel to lock up. Now i have to clean it out to make sure i get all the shards of metal out and put it back together when i find some replacement parts.

Doug aka Beatnic, helped me get the rest of the engine apart. it took a little effort to split the case. it made it easy with an extra set of hands that knows what he is doing. thanks Doug!

The sad empty shell, the pistons and cylinders look fine.

So Doug and I were coming back from a nice sunday morning ride when my back wheel locked up on me. Here are some pick from the tear down.
