"A Bird in the Hand" take 2. DR650 Deadtail Bobber, now with a sidecar

haha I had parked the Jetta in there all winter, so it made for a good "clean" spot to work on that this spring

"A Bird in the Hand" take 2. DR650 Deadtail Bobber, now with a sidecar

The weather is getting warmer, and the pile of projects that I was "going to get done over the winter" has crept into spring. Lenny needed to have a more respectable ride though, so it was time to strip down the hack chassis and give it a coat of paint. I left it bare steel for the last season...

    XS650 engine extraction thingy.

Though I've only ever personally owned one xs650 (well a 1972 xs2), I've somehow managed to have to store or move at least 3 of these engines for several members here via the DTT postal service. I've always said that if you made a mold of an XS 650 engine and cast it solid out of lead, it still...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

Sounds good! I'll hopefully have it stored by then. It's a 1997, so I couldn't go my normal Georgia route lol

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

Hey, what's one more pivot in the grand scheme of things... This project got back burnered, moved and so on for the sake of the old 49 ford truck and some house projects etc, and at the end of the day, building another frame from scratch is just out of my scope of probability at this moment in...

    '99 SV650 track rebuild

I wouldn't think twice about bolting the ground to the head, that said on the second gen ones, they run the cable right to the starter mount bolt. Is it close to the starter on the 1st gen too?

1949 Ford F-3 "old red truck"

Still plugging away at the old dog. I recently loaded the old girl up and brought her into the school. I am officially ready for this thing to be under its own power. I've loaded it onto this trailer a number of time solo, I'm not getting any younger and it gets heavier every time lol We got...

    '99 SV650 track rebuild

Looking really good. On my 2nd gen, I'm still really contemplating mounting the battery down there in order to play a little nicer with my custom subframe. This will be a somewhat daily bike, but still mostly fair weather and weekend stuff, so I'm not sure if I want to for that application or not.

Also, 90% sure I have a spare fuse panel if it comes to that. It is in the headlight bucket. The retaining ring can be a bit tricky on them.

    1987 KDX200

So Cooool ! I have A TON of love for the air cooled KDX's. I owned one for a minute, and while it turned out to be a bit more of a dud than I wanted (P.O. was maybe a little dishonest about the condition of some things) I still keep a constant look out for an 86-88. @CCRider has one that...

1949 Ford F-3 "old red truck"

That sounds like a nightmare to try to get 6 mikunis all working together, but if it couldve been made to work, it would have been pretty legit awesome. I had a moment of thinking about trying to work up 3 of the FCR39 MX carbs that I have on the shelf up on a custom manifold, but luckily I got...

And speak of the devil, marketplace saves the day again. @Deviant1 found a seller in Sarasota Florida with a used holley 390 for what ended up being $188 shipped. Sure beats $800 for a new one!

1949 Ford F-3 "old red truck"

That is really cool! From what I've read so far, Clifford 6=8 stuff is still really the "go to" performance equipment. If I had a bigger budget, and hadn't found the Offey "cheap" second hand, I would have run the Clifford dual weber down draft setup...

1949 Ford F-3 "old red truck"

I was pretty happy to get it. An old dude on a Facebook page offered it up and I grabbed it on the way to the Garage Brewed show in Cincinnati a few weeks back. You can still buy 2 variations of the intake to this day, a "C series" or a "dual Port". After looking at this one and trying to narrow...
