If you want a compromise between clip ons/clubman low bars and supervise bars check out The Dime City Cycles "cafe bars." They have the same style as clubmans but with only a 2" drop instead of the 4+ drop of clubmans or clip ons.
I'm actually part way through a cafe build on one right now. It's a fun bike to ride and, given the tripe engine, are a bit of a collectors item by some.

Here's an easy to use wiring diagram for the 500s: http://oldmanhonda.com/MC/wiring500.html
Let's you turn different circuits on and off to be able to trace wires easier.
Yup, looks like a Jardaine to me as well. Clean up the tip of the muffler. Usually the collar on the very end or possibly the mounting tab is stamped.
Also, check out this thread and see if you spot your pipes: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=97959.0
Those scratches on the mating surface of the crankcase look like a PO's gorilla attempt at removing the old gasket. Are they very deep or are there ridges?
These are the ones that I modified. You have to drill out the holes a bit and make a spacer to offset the pedal about 20mm but they let you keep all the stock linksage:

Keep in mind that I chose to leave some tabs since I was keeping the stock tilt seat and seat lock. The best thing to do is mark each mounting tab as you remove parts you're not going to reuse.
