You are on pal! Your bike looks great, what is the front brake off of? I am in Santa Clara so it sounds like Alice's would be a logical place to meet up. I will try and see if some of the local lads from the SR500 forum want to come up also. Now this motivates me to get that rear wheel...

Looking through their website will take some of the shine off my project. They really have done some incredible stuff in comparison. Have a look through their gallery -- mostly cafe stuff but incredibly well done. Their no 13 was much of my inspiration.
Oldskool --
The tank is from Custom House Stinky in Japan. Incredible craftsmanship -- it is absolutely perfect in every way for what I was after.
Tim's XS? I will need to have a poke around and see if I can find it. Any pointers?
Lets see....half way between Toronto and San...
Oldskool..wow, nice bunch of fabrication on your project!! I need you to come by and build an exhaust hanger ;)
Sorry for the BOTM ignorance but thanks everyone for the compliment -- appreciated :)
Went out and bought a tire for the new wheel...when it shows up.
Thanks guys, the thing is a hoot to ride in the twisties. Have you posted your build oldskool? Here is a link to the SR500 site. http://www.sr500forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=73 where mine is recorded in gruesome detail :)
What does Botm mean?
Well, I haven't posted in a bit, but I thought you lads might enjoy my latest addition to the project. Here is a test fit of an absolutely gorgeous bit of magnesium that looks an awful lot like a 210 mm Fontana rear brake replica.
Absolutely thrilled to bits with it.... :) Its off...
The wheels really are a nice change from the stock mags. Its a pretty straightforward conversion. I used an XT500 rear hub and XS650 front hub. Buchanan's drilled the Excel rims and cut the spokes. Then it was just a matter of throwing the hub into the box and shaking it up and a wheel...
Its an FCR 39. I ran it briefly with the stock engine and it was OK. The engine was in such bad shape at the time it was hard to tell if the carb was doing any good :-\ One real PIA is the carb clearance. With a straight manifold, the carb interferes with the frame. You would need to...
There is something addictive about this engine. I did put a 540 Wiseco in it with a mild Megacycle cam and the FCR carb, the engine is magic. Still working on getting the jetting dialed on the FCR but its close, went to a 165 from a 160 today and went down a clip position on the needle. It...
Hello all
New member who has spent the last four years and some months in the SR500 world building it into a cafe racer. I thought I would pop my head up and see what else is going on. My oh my -- quite a bit indeed.
I started off with a donor bike from Salinas done up in a sort of tracker...
