Re: 1962 BSA DBD34 Gold Star restoration (UPDATE vapor blasted!)
I'm a groupie. I love this build. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's not moving fast enough :-)
I can't wait until you get to the body work.
Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - exhaust finished
This bike is awesome. You're doing a killer job Ringo. I can easily say that this is one of my favorite builds on here and possibly my favorite bike.
I have to make a small critique though and please don't take this in a negative way because I think...
Ok, I was surfing around this morning wondering what I could buy as I had some money burning a hole in my pocket. Before I start my build, I want to outfit my shop a bit better and I have been eyeballing the mini lathe from Harbor Freight for some time. It's a hobby grade metal lathe and the...
Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - I don't know...this blue makes me want to do unnatural things
Very nice. Hurry up and finish so we can vote you May bike of the month :-)
Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - paint...for real!
Looks good. Personally, I'm a fan of the simple white circle with the number in the center. It's more classic that way.
Got my replacement set today. They fit like a glove. I noticed a few changes from the original set that was sent to me though. There was no "Made In Mexico" hand written on the inside. They upgraded to a patch that has the company logo. There is a smaller patch underneath it that I can just...
Re: 1962 BSA DBD34 Gold Star barn find restoration
That definitely cleaned it up. I'm not sure how it looks in person, but in the pictures it almost looks like it's been painted with silver paint.
Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - bondo vs dynalite
Dynalite is suppose to be a lighter weight filler compared to bondo. Not a bid deal if you're filling little bits here and there but it adds up when you start doing larger projects or are one of those shady body shops that can mold you a new fender out...
Re: 1962 BSA DBD34 Gold Star barn find restoration
Interesting. I've heard of similar results with glass beads (not cut). Supposedly, the round beads close up the pores of the metal unlike cut glass which leaves pits. Very interested to see how it comes out.
Per the site you listed, it...
Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - finished glassing the seat
Looking great so far. The seat pan really ties everything together. Can't wait to see everything painted.
Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - finished glassing the tank, or is that kevlaring? who knows.
Might want to consider adding a tank sealer like POR-15 or similar (just not Kreem). it would finish the inside out nicely and you wouldn't have to worry about any negative reactions with gas.
If you contact Todd at Gasolina, they might be able to ship you my boots directly from their agent in Georgia saving you wait time. I'll PM you my order info.
ha! That happened to me once. Wanted to get something off ebay and post pics up to ask for opinions. I was worried that if it was a good deal, someone on the forum would scoop it up since it was a buy it now auction. I ended up just downloading the pics, hosting them somewhere else and...
Got a prompt response from Todd today. He said exchange was not a problem and sent me their new measurement form which I filled out sent back. I just have to send them to the local agent that sent them to me to begin with. Very smooth so far.
