    1975 XS 650 cafe

That's a good looking bike. You actually passed me on Main St. in Hamilton yesterday (between Dundurn and Queen). I was holding up traffic trying to get a good look. I guessed you may be a DTT member so I looked you up on the member map. It's cool to see how you've transformed the bike a...

Eurolite LED bulb review - $14.99 at Canadian Tire

I bought an LED replacement bulb this weekend at Canadian Tire. The brand is Eurolite but may go by other names in other stores/countries. It's 1157 style bayonet connector (typical application is tail light or running light/signal). The Good: - Very low current consumption: 50 mA with...

First bike ever!!!! 1978 Honda CB550k, Back on track

Hey Southpaw, just took a look at the members map and realized that we're practically neighbours. I'm in Waterloo. Your frame and wheels are looking great. I've got my CB350 apart and will be looking for a powder coater soon. Would you mind telling me where you got yours done? Cheers, Arnie

Motorcycle table/lift/jack? What would you suggest?

I don't have a lot of room in my garage and I have to be able to push the bike out of the way when I'm done so the better half and kids don't get upset with me. I built this simple little dolly out of 2x4 one afternoon and it works great. I put fixed casters on the front and...

    Holy customer service or lack-thereof

Wow, that is brutal. I cancelled all Bell services about 8 years ago and haven't looked back. I use www.teksavvy.com for DSL internet (I think they also offer cable internet in some areas) and www.voip.ms for phone service. VOIP.ms is a little tricky to setup if you're not techie but my total...

spl@rboi's '72 CB350 (mockup complete and tearing down)

It's been a long time since I did any heat transfer calculations but this debate inspired me to do a little digging today to see if I can get to the bottom of this. To do a thorough job of modelling the heat transfer of an entire engine is very complex and requires far more knowledge of the...

spl@rboi's '72 CB350 (mockup complete and tearing down)

Re: spl@rboi's '72 CB350 (ready for teardown) Thanks Kanticoy. Why do you say you wouldn't powder the head and jugs? Is it the risk of warping during curing? If I powder the bottom end I'd need to get a paint to match spot-on for the top end. Arnie

spl@rboi's '72 CB350 (mockup complete and tearing down)

One more thing that I forgot to post earlier. I made up a little bracket to mount the speedo centred in the bars (sorry for the blurry-cam). You'll notice that the knob to reset the trip meter is broken off my speedo. Has anyone replaced one of those? Can it be replaced without completely...

spl@rboi's '72 CB350 (mockup complete and tearing down)

Rocan, good point about the thickness of powder. I'm not super concerned about a few grams here and there but I don't want it to look "heavy." This will be my first complete engine tear-down so it will take a while. I'm going to take my time and be meticulous about it. Will definitely replace...

spl@rboi's '72 CB350 (mockup complete and tearing down)

Wow, has it really been 4 months since my last post? Yikes! Work has been super busy so I've been trying to get as much time in the garage as possible and end up spending less time on forums (other than reading for hints and tips). Anyway, here's a quick summary of what's happened since...

    WTB: '72 CB350 Seat Pan

Looking for a good solid seat pan to refinish/reupholster. Mine looks like someone tried to lift the bike by the back of the seat and ended up bending it and cracking the sides. I don't care about the condition of the foam/cover, just need a good pan. Thanks, Arnie

    New CB400F Tanks from Taiwan

Has anyone used one of these tanks from Taiwan? spl@rboi's '72 CB350 (mockup complete and tearing down)

Re: spl@rboi's '72 CB350 (ready for teardown) I got a set of stock airboxes this week (@Bobdot - thanks, they look sweet). I'm planning to run the stock intake and side covers (with slight modification) because I like that look. I see that most on here tend to go with pods or velocity stacks...
